Hi and Welcome to Symbiostock

1.   Symbiostock (bee) Settings Page

2.  Do you have the widget set - I found the best way to get pictures on the front page was to set the Template - Home page CTA within the Page options

3.  There is still one tutorial on the Help page of the Symbiostock (bee) and lots of help within the forum - for the video tutorials we need to wait for Leo to finish rebuilding his site

I think I found it. It is in settings. What about EULA? Can I copy from somewhere? How do I make my image category menu like a drop down?

EULA  2nd post down in general section has some samples

Header menu , see help page tutorial in symbiostock

Sounds like you are getting there :)

Done with changing the logo. EULA copied. But I am unable to create menu where if I bring my mouse a drop down should popup and I should be able to select the category.
Need further help on
1) I need to create page where all the pictures are listed. basically my portfolio.
2) create a page where all the categories are listed in the form of folders/sets similar to what we see in Flickr etc. I saw few Symbio sites have done that.
3) in the setup, Tinny has mentioned that we need to select "Post" in the settings but I don't see just "Post"
I see post page. I have selected that.

I really like the websites that everyone has created.  Looks so professional. Mine looks like done by 10yr kid. Maybe they can also do a better Job that I

1) is easy, you don't need to create it, it's automatically generated at www.yoursite.com/image/ so you just need a link to that. For an edited portfolio, create a category, say 'portfolio' and assign a bunch of your best to that, then call it from the menu.

2) If you mean something like the front page at http://www.picturemojo.co.nz then that's a set of individually prepared index pics arranged using the Visual Composer plugin with links to categories.

3) Not sure what you're after here.

Keep going, you'll get it sorted in the end!

You need to tick "Post name" under settings->permalinks. I don't claim to understand why, but I think that is just how the SY theme works...

My widgets only work on sidebar. Not on above header. Is that normal.  I want a slider on top.

How do I change the position of search box, which is by default on right top corner?

1. Try a different page template

2.  Not a clue, you will have to delve into the coding side of things

Are you using a free host?   If you have your own domain you should not have any adverts on your site.

What is your url

Few more questions:

1) How to add the social network buttons at the bottom of the page? Which is a good widget that doesn't irritate while browsing and just sits nicely at the bottom or top of the page

2) I have uploaded 40 images. How do I add myself to the network?

3) How to make test purchases of image to check if it is working?

Hi, Anyone ?

1) How to add the social network buttons at the bottom of the page? Which is a good widget that doesn't irritate while browsing and just sits nicely at the bottom or top of the page?

I have done it finally.

2) I have uploaded 40 images. How do I add myself to the network? Please help

3) How to make test purchases of image to check if it is working? Please help

4) How do I backup my website?

1.  Would not have a clue - never use them and they do irritate me

2.  - Once you are up and running with images then don't forget to list yourself in the Network Building - what are you looking for in a match - thread
You add other people to your network list and add yourself to the thread above and if others have spaces and like what they see they will add you to their networks.   I do not have spaces anymore but you will be added via Ajt's site as that includes everyone in my network

3.  You can try and work the sandbox out, or, more easily register on your site with a different email address and purchase one of your images.  If you reduce the price it does not cost you as much in fees

4.  Hopefully your host will be doing this automatically, I rely on them to do mine for me.

For back ups I wouldn't necessarily rely on your host, not all of them have the same back up methods.  You should be able to make a complete back up of your database through your host and there are several popular Wordpress plugins for backing up your site as well.

I'm using The Social Links plugin on my site. It works pretty well, it's just basic social media icons.

Check out the footer of my SY site to see how it looks.

Hello, my site is ready and everything works perfectly, even the PayPal. I have a quick question: in my drop-down Categories menu is the number of images in the category does not appear. How do I eliminate it?

Hi Elilena - welcome to Symbiostock

I do not fully understand your question

In the main category list numbers appear (you seem to have disabled this) but in the drop down menu you only know how many there are when you click on a category and see the number at the top of the page

In the drop down menu for categories the number doesnt show, only on the categories page

Thanks for the replies, I understand it.
I then want that when clicking on the 'Categories' in the menu you will not be redirected to the blank page, like me, but on the page with all CATEGORIES  following, for example here:

Sorry for my Enlish! :-[

It seems you have set up two sites, on www.elilena.com looks like you used a redirect to the categories page but that is empty as you choose to display categories in drop down menu. But I am not sure as I dont know enough of the SYS theme to help you further.

It looks like you are using Amanda's Clean and Simple Child Theme ?

That does have the page will all categories disabled.  It will probably be easiest to ask Amanda directly for help on this.

I like having the full category page and numbers visible as well, I find it very useful :)

2 more questions:
- how do I disable comments? If I am logged in I see a place to add comments. I am getting at least one spam comment a day

- where are the images stored in the server? If I want to download these photos back to my hard drive? I also plan to use FTP to submit the photos to rest of the stock websites

And you can turn of comments here /wp-admin/admin.php?page=symbiostock-control-options

Not sure what you mean? Clean theme only changes the look of the category page, it doesn't disable anything.  Here is the Image Category page on the sample site.

Sorry, I had noticed that some of the others who are using your clean theme do not have a full category page so thought it was something within the theme - I like the way you have put them in columns

Hmm, I'm concerned I'll take another look but nothing in the CSS should be causing that at all.  I think the test site is on 2.4.9 so I'm going to upgrade and make sure it doesn't affect anything.

Worst case I would suggest flipping over to the main theme to see if the category page is working with that then we can narrow it down.

put your site in front of the URL www.mysite.com/wp-admin/admin.php? page=symbiostock-control-options and then click author options or go to the dashboard and click symbiostock and then click author options

I think Ron is correct that it may be a re-direct issue.  I was looking at your site trying to figure this one out and I noticed that when I go to your categories page the url says: http://elilena.com/sample-page/image-categories/

But it should just be http://elilena.com/image-categories/  however, when I try that link it redirects to the first url.  Did you maybe set up a redirect manually?   If so may want to adjust that one page, it looks like everything else is working properly.

I have removed redirekt, but the Categories page is still empty. I have to post here any slideshow so it does not look so boring.
What exactly is 'parent page' and what is it good for?

You should have a page called 'Image Categories' in your page list, which is blank, using the 'Categories Page' template. If you don't have one, just create it and that should work.

I am on 3.5.5 and all image categories appear as they always have, and have the number of images in each category in parentheses after them.

Thanks Cathy, good to know!

Looks like Travelling-light has the answer, if you manually created the Image Categories page make sure to choose the correct page template.

A Parent Page is basically just an organizational tool in Wordpress used to help give hierarchies to your pages which is useful if you have a site with a lot of content.  In Symbiostock it's not something you really have to use or worry about for the basic functions, but it's good to know in general.

I recommend Jetpack and use it for stats, contact form, sharing buttons and it can be useful for custom CSS editing as well.  Because it's provided by the Wordpress crew all of the plugins are fairly up to date and actively worked on by knowledgeable developers which is nice.

There are a few tutorials that include it here: http://www.symbioguides.com/?s=jetpack&post_type%5B%5D=st_kb
