Hi, my site looks a right mess in IE9 or 10?
When did this change? I am on 2.9, wp 3.8. Site looks fine in GC and FF and IE11.
-
Ron, I had a quick look at your site with IE9. I couldn't see any major problem. Definitely no "mess".
Considering that IE is a nightmare for CSS coding your site looks really good!

There could be a random issue with your particular IE. Back when I was drinking the Windows Kool-Aid I noticed there are some IE settings having to do with standards and such -- it tends to hijack the appearance if it gets confused on a particular site.

Sorry, IE8. Is that browser too old? We have IE8 at work. But I only use FF at work, so its not a big deal.

20% still uses IE8 so I guess it should look right in IE8 as well

Any chance to get an update on when this will be fixed? Or is there a later version that addressed the issue? I am at 2.9.9.
How is 3.0 working out for everyone?
I cant have my site looking like this in IE8. 20% sees that mess. ;D
Thanks,

The most recent 3.x.x just has minor changes ajt incorporated - a custom fix some of us incorporated earlier to show a global search if there were no results found on our own site - so I don't expect anything would be different.
I just checked my own site in IE 10 on Windows 7 (I'm at 2.9.9 too) and other than a few headings with the wrong color background (dark gray vs. white) it looks as it should.
IE 8 came out 5 years ago (March 2009) and I honestly can't see any value in fixing things up for it - the current IE version is 11. For my site, Bluehost's stats tell me 6% of my visitors are IE overall and 1.2% are IE 8 specifically

Big corporations are mostly 2 or 3 versions behind on whats new. But what do I know. It looked good before and not it doesnt. It worked fine and now its broken.
If I send a link out at work, or to other companies, they see a crap site. I guess you think thats fine then.
-
By the way, this is not about my site, but for everyone using Symbiostock. I assume they all look crap.
-
But that's what I'm trying to say - mine doesn't look like crap.
It's a customized version of dragonfly. Who knows what the issues are given the number of variations of themes on the 160+ sites? I'm not saying the problem isn't a problem, just that it isn't universal
-
Ok, thanks, I misunderstood you then.

I had a chance to test my Symbiostock site with the IE 8 legacy browser. Interestingly, my old 2.65 site shows much better than my new 2.99 site that I am still working on. So my guess was that IE8 and the bootstrap 3.0 that Leo introduced between to the theme don't get along. A quick google search revealed that this *might* be correct. See here for a solution:

I haven't tried it myself *yet*. But I sure will as soon as I find some time.

Thanks, but I have no idea where to put this
<script src="assets/js/css3-mediaqueries.js"></script>
I rather not mess with my site. I just hope it gets picked up and coded correctly in a next update.
-
Well, I played with it, downloaded the js script put it on my SYS site and added the line of code (modified path, of course) to the header.php. I found there is already a html5.js script included to deal with <IE9 issues. So that looked like the natural place to add this line.
Result: nothing. It didn't change a thing. Well, at least nothing obvious at first glance. ::)
That's it for me. I wasted an hour or so. If image buyers complain that their IE8 can't handle my site then that's their problem (and they are probably quite used to browsing issues by now, anyway ;D).
I hope Leo doesn't put too much thought/time into this. There are definitely more urgent issues to solve. ;)
-
Well, I have put 150 dollar towards Symbiostock so I do hope it gets fixed.
-
Well, I got the basic Symbiostock theme for free ::)
-
IE8 is dead -- google analytics stopped supporting it last month -- there are too many higher priority bugs and features needed to spend time fixing something with no future
