Title: Site reverted back after a network update?
Post by: Anita Potter on August 09, 2013, 16:17
All was working fine up until around an hour ago.  Received an email symbiostock_network_update and my site reverted back to a previous version before I got back online this week.

I don't know if it's a dns issue or something else.  I looked through the forum to see if anyone else had this problem and didn't find one.  I'm pretty well clueless if it's going to correct itself or not.

images.mddu.com (http://images.mddu.com) has the Symbiostock logo on it now and no other images.  I had it all nice and fixed this week with my logo and some of my images.  Just got another network update and it hasn't reverted back.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anita

Anita, the Symbiostock Network doesn't and can't make any changes to your site. It's just scanning the data you're making available.
Whatever happened, it happened on your site.

It looks to me like maybe you're not running a child theme correctly.

I deactivated it and reactivated it but for some reason that's not working at all. ???

Where did you make the changes and adjustments that got lost?

Did it all through WP.  The weird thing is that all my image files are there they're just not showing up for some reason.

My site was migrated from a free host to the paid hosting and it was just fine earlier then went poof including all of the changes I made this week before going with the paid hosting.

It's a head scratcher that's for sure.

Anita, it would be better to set the perma links right because you have now simple ones

....mddu.com/?image=a-pair-of-ca

should be

mddu.com/image/a-pair-of-ca

That was the way it looked before I got back to working on it this week.

Right now I'm downloading a back up of this site from the free host section.  I just don't understand why it went back to that.  All I did today was work on uploading and editing nothing else.

If they had some malfunction, they could recreate it from the backup and reactivated Symbio told you it's deployed. (just a thought)

Code: [Select]
<img itemprop="contentURL image" class="photo" alt="A Pair of Canadian Geese (Branta canadensis) swimming in a lake " src="">
even src="" is empty like it's not in the database

I'm also now wondering if it's a database thing and it's not picking it up?  Course how many issues am I going to have if I need to reinstall word press.  All my custom pages would disappear wouldn't they?

I'm backing up my site myself where do the custom pages live in WP or are they saved in the SY theme somewhere?

I think I need to do a database backup from the old server.  Just can't remember how to put that into the new database.

Well I tried the db thing didn't work.  Somehow all my WP stuff got wiped out and hasn't recovered.

I'm stuck with starting over again uploading.  Which is fine I have all my sites pages saved from the original db export.  I have to rebuild my menus and stuff.

At least I can make my own watermark before I start.  Which the process will work quicker now that I'm on a paid plan and I did some test uploads before the whole thing went south and it worked alright.

Hopefully this will go quicker this go around.

have you uploaded images & then updated the network & images on the sym/network page?  right now you have no file for images.xml

your symbiocard also shows no images uploaded

My database was completely empty.  It's like they copied just the tables but none of the content that was inside those tables.  I deleted my images off my site so I could start over.

I haven't gotten around to setting up the network yet.  I'm working on a watermark and getting that right before I start uploading.  Once I get a few images online I'll enable the network.

I activated the network on my site.  Do I show up in it?  I should have about 32 images or so.

Everything in your network seems to be ok.
I tried to index your site in symbiostock.info, but it still has old public image files. It should actualize itself soon, you can also do it manually now- go to Symbiostock->Network, check "Update publick image info" and Save.

All images indexed:
http://www.symbiostock.info/index.php?search=http://images.mddu.com (http://www.symbiostock.info/index.php?search=http://images.mddu.com)

Fill your public data too (bio, nick). Now you are visible in network as "admin".

Awesome!  Thanks.

I just hope my database doesn't re-propagate from the old server and screw everything up.
