Symbiostock / Plugin Compatability Issues and Reports

(1/3) > >>

Leo Blanchette:
This is a thread to report issues with Symbiostock and plugin compatibility. So far it seems Symbiostock does not have many compatibility issues.

We can use these reports to make the theme more standardized to play well, but other times the plugins themselves are quirky or incompatible by nature.

Please report them here along with solutions if there are any.

WP-Super Cache - http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-super-cache/

Very helpful for when your site gets big and you have traffic. It will significantly help your site.

Customers will have trouble with cached pages that should remain dynamic. Like the cart area.

If you go to the "advanced" tab you will see this description:

--- Quote ---Add here strings (not a filename) that forces a page not to be cached. For example, if your URLs include year and you dont want to cache last year posts, it’s enough to specify the year, i.e. ’/2004/’. WP-Cache will search if that string is part of the URI and if so, it will not cache that page.
--- End quote ---

My cart area address for instance is this:
http://www.clipartillustration.com/customer-licence-and-file-management-area/

So in the box I could take from the url customer-licence-and-file-management-area and simply paste that

 - the Caching plugin will leave that page "dynamic" and so your customers won't always go to their cart saying "Where is the stuff I added!!!" or worse come back to it and wonder "Where is the stuff I bought!"

There are also things I will write into the theme to make this plugin more compatible since its a wordpress standard solution to site speed and resource saving.

An extremely  useful tool for blocking all sorts of spammers:
Bad Behavior: http://wordpress.org/plugins/bad-behavior/

It will sometimes block paypal - especially the paypal developer functions of doing "test" transactions.

Here are some directions for allowing Paypal to get through to your IPN script:

Thanks for that super cache tip, just did it now. Very logical.

Super Cache - added it, no idea why except Leo recommended it as I don't have a clue - the timestamps were both the same when testing so I assume everything is okay?

Do you have to add wp-content/cache/.htaccess only if you enable Mod Rewrite Caching or add it anyway
