Ok - well there might be a small quirk then in that it only uses "." as a separator now. Hopefully thats forgivable for now.

Decimal point for sterling as well - thanks Leo

You have probably already noticed if you used the code I found - I missed a K off when I was changing the names

'id' => 'symbiostoc_currency',

3/31/13 - updated testing theme - please download - Now with different currency types for cart/paypal. Memory use in image processing improved.

( https://github.com/orangeman555/symbiostock/blob/master/symbiostock.zip?raw=true )

*note - the saving error in the admin is due to messed up html right now. For now just use firefox or chrome when in admin, not internet explorer. This does not affect your site's front-end, customer experience, or anything else.

No, what should happen.

First time I tried I was doing it as admin  :-X

Tried again as a customer but still cannot work out where to down load image as customer area looks as it did before I paid

I am probably missing (or have missed out) something really obvious but cannot see it

Edited to add:  I did not get a "thank-you" for being a customer email either, I think I have everything set up

I am attempting to test purchasing, but I am absolutely stumped by PayPal IPN... my test payments are going through but nothing is happening after that.  Can someone more technical maybe take a peek at the IPN file provided and give us an idea of what needs to be changed/added?  Also what page to put in our PayPal settings as the page it's supposed to be "listening" to? That'd be awesome :)

On another note...I have my PayPal (verified business account) set up to take payments from one of my other sites so all of that site's information is appearing on my checkout page.  I was wondering wear the logo we upload for PayPal comes in and if anyone knows of a good way to set up different branding depending on which site customers check out from?

Paypal was working previously. My currency update probably left something different than previously. Just keep looking at it that way when I get back I have to use my brain as little as possible and you will have  an update quicker.

I tired in Chrome, Mozilla and ie and got the error. However when I restored to the previous version it went away. Not sure why, but it could be my own fault messing with things. Lastly, I don't know how to enable the image license link so that customers can download the purchased image. In the backend the license url disappears when I click save.

The license link is unrleated to paypal. Also I'm not sure it works right now. I meant to change it to a hard-coded link for your reference. (Tonight's update!  :P )

Like I said, put plenty of work into seeing why paypal is not working. When I get back I want to solve this last issue quickly. Should work like this:

Customer checks out (that works apparently)
Customer completes transaction, ends up on verification page on paypal.
Paypal redirects user. (While that happen, paypal is calling your IPN to post the sale that just happened)
IPN updates user files, and user automatically has landed on their page for downloads (customer page).

If any insightful guinea pigs can tell me where its backfiring it will save me some troubleshooting time.

Thanks guys. We're almost done. After Sunday...well...its your baby and you are adoptive parents for the next two weeks.

I took out the paypal redirect earlier to see if that was my problem, have not put it back yet.

Version 7
Registered new account received password and welcome (did not get welcome with V6)
Paid - both payer and payee acknowledged

Nothing to say where/how to download.

First of all: Excuse me if my error report sounds sounds stupid or can easily be fixed, I am not an experienced programmer! :-(

I installed Wordpress and Symbiostock earlier today and while most things seem to work fine, I receive the following error message when trying to process the images uploaded:

Warning: file_get_contents() [function.file-get-contents]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in (I removed full path for this post)/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/image-processor/wideimage/lib/WideImage.php on line 194

Warning: file_get_contents((I removed full path for this post)/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/image-processor/symbiostock-watermark-small.png) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in (I removed full path for this post)/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/image-processor/wideimage/lib/WideImage.php on line 194

Warning: unpack() [function.unpack]: Type c: not enough input, need 1, have 0 in (I removed full path for this post)/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/image-processor/wideimage/lib/vendor/de77/TGA.php on line 90

Can anyone give me a hint what I need to do? Thanks in advance, also for this great venture!

I can help you with this - I was with 1and1 and they have a restricted set of commands that you can use in PHP - the programing language used.

I had to add a php.ini file - which you create in notepad and save as php.ini and my contains the following:

allow_url_fopen = ON
allow_url_include = ON
allow_furl_open = true

You should be able to them upload that (using ftp) into the root folder of your site. On 1and1 I had to run a script that puts it in all the folders of the installation.

Hope that helps - this is not an error in the theme - it is a hosting company restriction.

Steheap, many thanks for your quick and clear response! Indeed I am with 1und1 (how did you find out?) and did now place your ini-file in all the folders I considered to be relevant. Now the process script does not throw any more errors - but unfortunately nothing else happens after calling the "process" function. Anyone experienced the same? Thanks again...

Just thought - I imagine there should be a message telling us which image has sold, which size and who to ?  I did not get one of those either for the  test purchases

Edit:   I have just put the link in back into paypal to return to the site page to get image - makes no difference, still no download link or messages (apart from paypals) confirming sale to site owner or customer

If anyone can work this out I think we must be almost ready to go ?

I guessed about the 1and1! I'm having all the same issues!

In case it helps, here is a link to a page about the script that takes a php.ini file in your root folder and copies it to all other folders. There is also a script that deletes the php.ini file if you need to get rid of it from all folders. Works well - you just need to add the "external" root folder ID - which you get from the environment area of the Testing Tab of the Sybiostock options. It is called Redirect_Document_Root and looks like: /kunden/homepages/23/d898564.....

Anyway, back to the plot. I found that putting this php in all folders made the system work without errors but it froze at Process images. I then tried with a very small jpeg - 100K file size - and it all worked. However, I tried with a 1.5M file and no success.

I contacted 1and1 support and they told me to buy the business package (although my package is supposed to have 60M of memory and the Business one only has 80M, so I've given up on that.

I'm currently building an installation in BlueHost instead. They claim to give your money back for any reason, so I thought I would try it in a new host.

Sorry that I haven't got better news about 1and1

One other update about this 1and1 issue. I never got it to work for images over 1M, so I've tried a new build on BlueHost with their $3.95 a month for 36 months package. Building the WP site was a breeze - no separate creation of a database etc. I'm used to all the settings now so I quickly added the Symbiostock theme. I uploaded a 3M image with no issues, but I'm struggling a bit with a 14M image. I'm getting an error for files greater than 10M. Perhaps I need to use FTP for that.

Steve, unfortunately you are right with your assumptions: I also tried uploading a very small image and the processing works fine, no luck however with anything >100KB! Thanks anyway and good luck with bluehost!

Leo seems like there is indeed an issue with processing larger images with several hosters, 1und 1 (https://www.1und1.de), one of the largest German hosters seems not to support processing of images largen than 100kB. Anything you can do about that?

I had little success with 1and1 tech support, I'm afraid. I think this may be a project where you need to pay out a bit more money for success. BlueHost is sort of OK so far - I'm just working an issue with files above 10M, but it is a lot better than the experience I had with 1and1

Have you guys got safe mode on? Check in Symbiostock > Testing, as that can cause processing to fail.

Safe mode (in PHP core) is off in my version - but I'm doing OK up to 10M

May I ask a really stupid question?

When you upload a new version of a theme to Wordpress - that has the same name as the last theme - how do you do it?  Do you uninstall the current theme or does this destroy all the work you have done to date?

And 2nd question.  I also am having trouble with watermark - I seem to remember Cathy mentioning it in another thread but I cannot find.  I just can't understand Steve's help above.  Do I have to log into Godaddy to make suggested changes?

I haven't seen anyone raise this one before...

I just uploaded a logo for the Paypal screen and made a test purchase to check it. When I clicked on the download link for the new file I got this...

It's a 13MB file. The smaller file is still available, and works fine.

The way this works is that you first activate one of the other themes - Twenty-eleven, for example. Then Symbiostock will have a delete link under it as it is no longer the active theme. Click on delete. Then upload the new theme (by pointing at the latest zip copy of the build) and activate that. It doesn't hurt the work you have already done as that is stored in the database.

I've made my own watermark - it needs to be exactly the right size, 522x522 and a transparent png. Make it pretty low opacity so it is just visible. Then upload it somewhere to the site (you can use the normal image/media manager to do that, or FTP it. Then update the setting on the Setting page of Symbiostock to point to the watermark. It is added during the image processing step.

To do the PHP.ini stuff, you need to have ftp access to your root folder - where the top level folders associated with Wordpress sit. There may be a php.ini file already there, in which case you add the extra lines to it and re-upload. If it is a new php.ini, then you create it in notepad, save and upload. You may also have a file explorer in your Godaddy account that would avoid the ftp step.

Steve
