I looked at one of your elephant images from the category search, and I noticed that at least that one didn't have "elephants" in the keywords. If I search for "elephant" they all come up

Steve

thanks - I didn't include plurals since most sites dscourage that, so I added the plural here for testing

If I remember correctly, searches will usually find a singular or plural keyword if you include the s in the search, but if you search for singular it won't find the plural. I might be wrong, that's just what I have always understood. So when I keyword, I always use the plurals.

no, elephants brings up only the image that has 'elephants' as a tag, and doesn't find the others that just have 'elephant'.  also, (known problem, on the list)  it doesn't find images that have 'elephants' in the title or desc

Ah, yeah, that's a problem then.

It appears that one can login using either Login/Register or Please Log In, so I guess I will leave those alone, but I have question under this topic...

when I login, I am taken to the Customer License page. I would like to go to Home. On what page or how can I fix that?

Posted this question in another thread, but Leo said to post here.

I must admit I have not noticed which page I go to first as I tend to go to address/wpadmin and log in that way when I first open the site unless I want to check something as a customer

Found a small bug in the menu's.

If you create a menu item which you want as a drop down (such as Image Categories for instance), but then you don't want the top most menu item clickable, just the submenu items, so you remove the link on it, then the CSS fails and it gets the wrong styling.

See my site for an example

Also, I just updated to the latest theme version, and now in my admin screen there are a number of screen layout issues, such as 3 Save buttons at the bottom of each page tab, and overlapping text etc.

It's still usable, but far less clean than it was.

Leo - thanks for the footer copyright section, but can we please have the ability to use HTML in that field, so we can create links in it? Cheers!

Great Leo. :)

Just noticed another funny thing.

I have used the new feature to append " - Stock Photo" to the end of my images. It works fine. But when you hover the mouse over the image (not the image title, that works) it seems to double up. Eg: "Brown Leather - Stock Photo - Stock Photo"

http://thpstockphotos.com/image/brown-leather/

Thoughts?

Yeah that gave me a warm glow inside to see it working. With such a taxonomy-heavy system its perfect. I hope everyone else figures out how to use it.

Also, just wondering if now that people are up and running with sites, should some things be optional upon a install of a new theme upgrade?

For instance, instead of always installing all the default categories (which myself and others have altered/deleted/added to), could there be a "Install default categories?" option in the admin section?

Thats not a bad idea. It would be easy to do actually. Vote on it :D

For now it just goes to the license page to get the customer aware that it exists right away. Sort of "this is is your spot, just wanted you to know". But its ok for a future idea to be able to change that.

Just a general announcement to whoever is listening (to avoid opening a new thread) I noticed people like to make BIG slideshows on their front page.

I noticed one yesterday which was over 4 megabytes. Today I saw one that was 3! WOA. You guys must be on cable.

A few tips:

1. Knock down your slide count a bit...maybe 3 or 4.
2. Are you using photoshop? Use "Save for web" and choose an appropriate setting that is not perfect but not obviously degraded. I think thats somewhere between 75 and 90. But use your designer-eyes.

I still have a few optimizations to make as we go through beta to make overall page size lower and load speed faster, but huge slideshows can be a bit counter-productive.

Also, a page-speed trick: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-super-cache/ <-- pretty standard for established WP sites.

Just noticed breadcrumbs don't seem to be implemented for pages or posts, just for image pages. Is that correct Leo? Not a big deal, easy enough to add, just wondering if that is correct?

Yup. I didn't want to go too crazy on it. My wife goes crazy when you start leaving breadcrumbs everywhere. I only put them where I thought they'd be most useful. I'd be happy for some general feedback though.

Ha, ok cool. Personally I would like them on every page and post. I feel it gives uniformity to the sites navigation, plus it all helps with SEO, so I don't see a downside.

But thats just me.

Perhaps if you added the functionality to the pages and posts, then those who don't want them don't have to turn on the Breadcrumbs setting in Yoast?

Another oddity since the latest update. Some image searches for keywords are failing to return any results, and the URL of the returning page is odd, eg:

http://photo.travelling-light.net/?image-tags=australia

with the categories list, while a successful search returns:

http://photo.travelling-light.net/search-images/landscape/

with network results, all as expected.
