Title: Volunteer needed to do a test purchase
Post by: Ron on July 18, 2013, 11:22
Hello all,

I would like to ask someone to do a test purchase on my site.

Basically, create an account, find any image and purchase a bloggee with PayPal.

I will refund the purchase immediately.

I just want to know since I installed a few plugins to stop spam and bogus users, if the site is still operating properly for real people.

Please post here first if you are going volunteer, so that I dont have to refund 15 individual purchases.  ;)

Thank you, you are too kind.

hey Ron,

What I did was uploaded a tester image for 10 cents. Both my test paypal acct and another SY person helped test it for me.

Thanks for the idea, fun fact, 10 cents is going to get lost on PayPal fees. The fixed fee is 35 eurocent LOL.

I can ask my brother in law to purchase a bloggee.

Thanks,

Thanks,
I didn't know that. I had no issues here using USD. Anyway, if you put one under a dollar I'll test it for you (I have a test account I use for exactly this kind of thing but it only has a couple bucks in it).

My pricing is in Euro, the bloggee is 2.25 euro, that should be around 3 dollars. I can refund that straight away. So you wont lose the money in your paypal account. In fact, if you dont mind, you can PM me your paypal email and I will send you money first, so you can use it for the purchase?

Maybe you should have PM'd someone to do a test, then? As I mentioned, no one had responded when I started the process, so had no clue someone else had done one. Sorry. If you want to cancel my refund, I'm ok with that.

I noticed it went into my account as euros. Do you know whether it will auto convert to USDs when I go to transfer the money to my checking account? I have never gotten another currency in paypal before, besides USDs. You seem knowledgeable about paypal.

In Paypal you can choose to receive multiple currencies and it will keep them separate so you can buy in those currencies without paying an exchange rate plus fee (ie I have a US balance, a CAD balance, etc), however I think you have to set a default currency for your bank transfers.

Since i have only ever gotten paid in usd i am fairly certain i am set to usd and dont have the need to have different currencies. So if i am reading correctly, it should auto convert when i transfer to my bank. I can double check my settings later. Thanks for the tip.

Because I live near the Can/US border it makes sense for me to have both so that I can shop in either area without the conversion and transfer fees from Paypal. :) My site is actually USD since the CAD market is too small in comparison.

paypal will always use your default currency first for any transaction or transfer. when that amount goes to 0, they automatically convert other currencies as needed.

Thanks for verifying the auto conversion, guys. I will go over and doublecheck the default currency.

Cathy, I did ask to post here first before doing a test purchase. To prevent any double testing. I have paid you back and you accepted. Its all good. I wasnt upset, I posted several smileys to make that clear I hope.

Thanks again.

Sorry about that, my fault. Yes, I just did accept the payment a few minutes ago. I didn't get that you were upset. I totally see why you wouldnt want to pay out a bunch of fees.   :)
