Just updated my Symbio, seems safe
-
Good to know. Thanks!
Are there any visible differences?
-
Don't know yet, reading the docs
-
You are very brave!

'do or die' lol

I'm guilty too.
*upgrade*
*grind teeth in and wait for crash*
"Awesome, it still works!"

I've upgraded to 3.6 on a different theme (NOT symbiostock) on one of my other sites and have had problems. Some things don't work now, the theme author seems aware of it and has mentioned a new release for next week.
So it's made me cautious to do the upgrade on my Symbio site. I hope those who've done it can test it thoroughly.
-
Updated http://peopleimages.grsphoto.ca/wp/ (http://peopleimages.grsphoto.ca/wp/) no problems found yet. ( try and break it if you like) I will give it a couple of days and then update my main site.
-
Updated my Symbio site with WP 3.6. Everything seems to be running smooth. No hiccups so far.
-
This is the first full week that my site is running without any niggles (that have mostly been caused by plugins).
Think I'll hold off upgrading to 3.6 (or adding any new plugins) for a while...

Upgraded..and my footer is now gone......... :-\ New WP has cleaned out my content of the footer sections, so ahve to redo them now. Back up all your footer text b4 upgrading!
Update: Reconstructed my footer but it doesnt show up on my home page, only on other pages.

I would recommend backing up your whole site on a regular basis and especially before an update is applied.

What are you backing up and how do you do that? Are you just backing up your MySQL database? Or are you backing up directories (if so, which ones)? And how are you backing them up? Are you just downloading the files to a local computer? Or something totally different?

I backup all the files and databases on my web server via the server control panel. I compress all the directories and files into a zip file and then download that file. I backup my databases via phpmyadmin.

I have upgraded this morning and so far everything seems fine.

Which web hosting service are you with?

In my browser chrome on mac, your HOME link is hanging 1 line below the rest of your menu items.

I have been using http://www.4uhosting.co.uk/ (http://www.4uhosting.co.uk/) for the last 7 years or so.

Cheers for that, should be OK now.

Anybody having issues with NextGen gallery after upgrade?

for people who just jumps on updates without backing up:
guys, you must back up before doing any upgrades.. or you may throw away months of work..
this is one of the reasons that I am happy with godaddy because files are backed up automatically.. I can always go back 24 hours and restore any damaged files.. and with databases, clicking on "back up" link is enough.. I can then click on "restore" if there are any issues..
If your service provider does not do it automatically, you should do it manually.. if you don't back up, and have no idea what you are doing, it's better you don't upgrade wordpress at all..

One of the things that I don't like about GoDaddy is that they only keep the most recent backup. In other words, every time you do a database backup, it just overwrites the previous one. What I do is run the backup and then rename the file (with the date). This way I have backups that go back at least a few days. You never know when you might need something from a few days ago.
-
Just FYI everyone using Bluehost, HostMonster, and HostGator, there is a massive outage going on right now. If your site is down, it's probably not anything to do with your site, symbiostock, wordpress, etc.

yes, that's a good approach.. I do that if I feel it's necessary..

You're right, my site was still working perfectly after the update of WP. All problems later the day were caused by Bluehost ... they even managed to crash their own site :o
-
Even on Inmotion (the best in dedicated servers) had problems occasionally. Sometimes traffic issues can result from physical problems unrelated to the host. Yet they still have to "keep on it" and do their best.
Actually it was there that some rediculous amount of servers were hacked by "Tiger Mate" and I had a nice all-nighter undoing that one. Welcome to the world of selling direct :D

Exactly ;D

I just updated my SY site and I see no problems. I was expecting to have to upload my custom php footer stuff and maybe the custom css, but didn't even have to do that. I am pleasantly surprised. But give me a couple of days to test 'er out. :)
