Need help with FTP upload to NextGen Gallery
marthamarks:
So, OK, I've got a new SYS site developing w/Clean Theme and NextGen Gallery. I know how to upload a few images at a time to NGG via the website and get them into galleries/pages/slideshows on the site, but I really need to be able to FTP larger batches. Otherwise, I'll never get this done.
My FTP connection to the site is good, and the images appear to be uploading to my new site just as they do to SS, FT, DT, etc. Problem is, I can't find the images once I've uploaded them.
Or maybe I should say... I don't know where to put the images I upload. Do I set up a file specifically for them? If so, what and where?? I've tried but each time WP tells me such-and-such a file does not exist. This is not very intuitive.
Is anybody who's dealt with this willing to share a tip or two?
Thanks, and my apologies if this has already been answered somewhere. I sometimes feel rather lost in the Forum.
Ron:
If you are uploading images to SYS using FTP you need to upload them into this folder
/www/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/plupload/uploads
Then you find them in the WP Dashboard section under Royalty Free Images > Process Uploads.

Ron, you are wonderful!! Thank you so very much.

Well, Ron, I was ecstatic about that for a while until I realized just now that I still don't have a clue where to find (or create) that file (/www/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/plupload/uploads).
Can you (or anybody else) please tell me that? No rush... at your leisure, but I'll be grateful for a smidge more help with this.
BTW, by doing a Google search on that file I did find the previous thread about this in the Forum. But most of the info was so technical that it didn't help me at all.

If you go to the ladybug section, Royalty Free images, in the left column of the admin panel, then click upload images, under the uploader it will show you the path to your ftp folder. You then put that path into whatever program you are using to ftp, like filezilla, fetch, whatever. For instance, i use dreamweaver to ftp stuff to my site. The root folder for my site at blue host is public_html. My path looks like this
/home3/cathysl1/public_html/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/plupload/uploads/
but in dreamweaver i dont put the home3/cathysl1 because the root folder for wp is public_html. Hope this helps.
Edit: so put /public_html/ in the blank in your ftp app for the directory. Once you connect to your server, you will be able to see the wp-content folder and follow the path to find the correct folder to put them in.
