I have the same issue - I lost one good customer due to a broken link in email notification after purchasing files. Huge disappointment in Symbiostock platform. I have no idea how it can be fixed...

I just read about compatibility issue with 'WP Super Cache' plugin here:http://www.microstockgroup.com/symbiostock-technical-support/symbiostock-plugin-compatability-issues-and-reports/ - so I disabled it, I hope it helps. Any other suggestions?

These are a few of the reasons I'm either not keeping my Symbio site or moving to a real e-commerce software ... Yes, a real e-commerce software will require more work probably but, I think the results and professionalism of it will be better. :/

Did you attempt to sign up on Symbiostock.org and post a help question? Most of these problems are easily fixed. You may email me leo[at]symbiostock.com

I suppose I'll just answer here.

When everything is set up properly symbiostock works. That being said, on a server there are many elements which interplay, and then of course there is paypal itself you must ensure is set up properly.

I do try to consolidate help requests on the forum provided. Could you please confirm that signup on symbiostock.org goes well? Both of you? TY

When I had my site, I had to rebuild it once. The second time it happened, I switched to photocrati and sell media.

Symbiostock works pretty well and you really are doing amazing work ... My main peeve is just trying to justify renewing (and that stupid Safari download) Also, another customer had problems downloading but, when she contacted me I just sent her the file at high res and thanked her for letting me know. I'm trying to not concern myself with stock much this year.

How have you been Leo? I think we last talked I was asking you about paypal and such? Maybe October?

I am doing well. I'm taking it much slower now.

For quite some time I've been creating a new version of Symbiostock. It interacts with woocommerce to work in bulk and sell downloadable images.  But I'm in no rush. As you know woocommerce can handle any gateway and is created by a team of people and collectively has thousands and thousands of hours into it. Besides that the new version's networking and image processing functions are more streamlined.

I can sympathize with the frustration of trying to get something to work for a desired outcome. I use Blender 3d, and in it's early days it was quite cryptic to learn, but I used it because paying $3000 for autodesk software wasn't an option.

I think Symbiostock is the same way - it was created with the idea of getting some independence from micros but not everyone can be a web designer and an artist. There is a point where we have to say "lets be reasonable!".

Cathy has had some good results with her solution which apparently is easier. If you assess your personal situation that hosting is still worth it for you, then there are many options with different strengths. If you stick with Symbiostock I've just fixed the forum up so people can sign up easier. It turns out one of the spam tracker sites it interacts with no longer provides service, which is what was blocking signups.

Anyway, whichever way you go Symbiostock is still useful in its own way.

Symbiostock definitely serves its purpose ... before symbiostock I don't think many people wanted to try to self host (still many don't) but, Wordpress is free and mostly easy. It's interesting that you picked woocommerce because I was looking at it a few weeks ago and thought that it might be my direction if I decide to keep going. One thing that I am worried about though is paying for an SSL certificate and then not making that back ... (though having it could result in significantly more sales, many small to medium businesses use credit cards for everything) I might even just leave my site the way it is, obviously it's not hurting me one single bit and if next year is the same as this year, it will continue to not hurt one bit.

I'll jump back on the forum (hopefully I can remember my info). Definitely enjoyed the people there and the energy we shared for a bit.

Used to toy with blender quite a bit too ... I couldn't justify the Maya purchase ... It's funny that blender hasn't caught on more, maybe due to its clunky interface?

Slartibartfast: Perhaps I'm old and tired, but I think that the chances of finding out what's actually going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say, "Hang the sense of it," and keep yourself busy. I'd much rather be happy than right any day.
Arthur Dent: And are you?
Slartibartfast: Ah, no.
[laughs, snorts]
Slartibartfast: Well, that's where it all falls down, of course.

I think Symbiostock always has a good chance of becoming like it used to. The life and the fun of the project has always been the community. I've often thought of repurposing Symbiostock.org to be a more generalized microstock hub.

As you probably know FORD stands for Found On Road Dead but its sort of a humorous saying that caught from the early days. Yet Ford is still a pretty good company, and also a character in Hitch-hiker's guide to the galaxy. The original faults end up being just endearing pieces of history. The real success of Symbiostock was the community - the software was just an excuse.

In any case, there's always enough life in it if some crazy people wanted to reignite it again.  But yes in the meantime I try to keep up with help requests in the forums.

Thank you for your answers, guys! I didn't submit any help requests on Symbiostock forum - I guess I have to wait some decent amount of time for proper answers and no one knows if it were right or wrong solutions of the problem. It might be kind of investigation/conversation for a week or so. I just tested PayPal setup - it works fine on another wordpress website with Sell Media plugin. Downside of Sell Media plugin is that it doesn't work with vectors directly - you have to pack them in zip archives to sell. It means - no automatic keywording, but just copy/paste nightmare...

Symbiostock has its pros and cons. On of the biggest negative of Symbiostock is that you have to spend lot of time to reach your goals: create custom contemporary-looking website that can works without crashes. Symbiostock does not compatible with other wordpress themes which means as I said that it is extremely hard to make Symbiostock-based website modern-looking.

Pros: as far as I know - Symbiostock is the one and only solution if you deal with tons of vector images with IPTC metadata. Automatic attributing/keywording from IPTC if you uploading both jpeg and eps - is the brightest side of Symbiostock - truly time-saver.

Maybe Photocrati would be the way to go for me. I was so disappointed with the way things went with Symbiostock after signing up for the premium version and 3 years of web hosting. When the forum kept going away, I finally just gave up uploading and have ignored my website for months. It gives me a lump in my stomach thinking about it now.  :(

Glanced at Photocrati and I like the modern themes available. Will research it. There is some hope.

Finally, I finished my website: http://www.toonstyle.com/ - it was complete renovation: new custom Wordpress theme, Woocommerce plugin, re-uploading of all content. Critique and comments are truly appreciated!

Great work, great site. :) But I think your watermark is too heavy....it's hard to see the illustrations through it.

Great work. I think many would appreciate if you could start a separate thread listing all the plugins (watermarking etc.) you used.

Good luck!
