Thank you for letting contributors know - that's very helpful.

I took a look at the site (in German) and did a few searches. I noticed that the titles of images are in English and wondered about translation of keywords and searching.

I did some searches (both in the English and German versions of the site) and was puzzled about the results. For example, searches for tropical beach, maine, boston harbor picnic basket, sand dunes and boston dowtown produced expected results. If I searched for maine sunrise or boston sunrise it said zero results even though images with those keywords are there. Searching for maine sonnenaufgang and boston sonnenaufgang produced results as expected. I don't speak German but used Google translate to help me out :)

Is that just a glitch with one word? Should an English search with the original keywords still work (as well as one with German keywords)?

The search on the German site works with German keywords, some words maybe work in English. Unfortunately we don't get the captions in German, so they appear in English. We will add an automatic translation later.

Thanks for trying the site.

P.S. I just realized that there is a bug which throws you back on the German start page. We will fix this now

Gosh, we had a nasty bug. The language parameter was overwritten all the time.

It's fixed now.

And now I'm seeing the search results I'd expect - your turnaround on fixes is excellent.

Thanks for introducing your company.  This kind of information and transparency about partners is not often found in microstock and your willingness to share it with us is greatly appreciated.

I will update the partner list shortly with Imagedirekt's information.

I believe there are employment opportunities for you in Calgary, Ontario. If you can fix bugs then you could probably write your own paycheck with unlimited overtime.

Calgary's in Alberta - just a hair West of Ontario. I had written, and then deleted, something similar in my post complimenting them on their speed. I decided I was being gratuitously mean, if accurate. You are apparently voicing my less kind thoughts :)

LOL, reminds me when I was living in Toronto (Ontario  ;D) and some friends came over from England, they had reserved a camper van and thought they would drive to Vancouver for the weekend.  What is crazier is that we ended up driving the camper van to New York City.  That trip could be a movie it was so comical.  Oh, to be young and carefree stupid once again!!!

I agree, but I'd like to know a bit more, especially how much of the prices we see on the website will end up in our pockets if our images are licensed. I.e. what is your cut, what is Veer's cut.

Check out the Veer site, they have it in their FAQ:

Thanks for the hint. I thought there might be some special arrangements.
So we are getting the exact same $ amount for an image sold via a partner site as on Veer. Not too bad, but as prices are a bit higher on your site (Veer charges 10 credits for a large size, that is - depending on credit package size - between 6,1 and 11, you charge 12,57) that is another bit of customer money that is withheld from contributors.*

But that seems to be unavoidable with all distribution schemes. Let's hope that this will increase sales volumes (and as you are in Germany, any business you take from Fotolia would be highly welcome  ;D).

* I know some people will now again comment that percentages don't count, because you can't pay bills with percentages. My view is different. The overall (global) yearly budget of all image buyers combined is - at least to a certain extent - a fixed amount. If a bigger part of this budget is spent on sites with low percentage royalties, the total amount of money paid out to contributors will decrease. Even if those sites can boast a high RPD because of high prices. That is why I think in the long run percentages matter more than high dollar amounts per sale.

Our prices include VAT, I think the prices from Veer don't. So you have to deduct 7 percent.
