I was one of the contributors to SV whose images were transferred. I checked the site today and I see all my approved photos, but there are no descriptions against any of them. I remember a much earlier post saying that would be corrected. Is that still the case, or do I have to enter new descriptions.

Also, the keywords are just a subset of what we originally present - do I need to do anything about that?

*** there is a new "alias" field on your Member page under Contact Information. This will replace your full name across the site - including on Image detail pages.
Thanks Brian I really appreciate this!

Hi steheap -

I'll double-check on this - it's possible the system is still processing this info.

Just so I'm clear: do you mean that they are not showing up on your Dashboard -> Approved?
Have you also checked to see if the descriptions are showing up on the detail pages as well?

If you have a chance - let me know - that will help us sort this out.

See example on this page for a description on a detail page:  description is visible beneath the title and name:

You now have more ways to control how your name/company/brand are displayed:

*** there is a new "alias" field on your Member page under Contact Information.

Thanks a lot! A 19 minute delay between posting a problem and getting the solution is not that bad. Hope you will keep that pace ;)

Here's the email that went out earlier today. I didn't want to steal Brian's thunder, but it looks like not everyone received it. I'm sure he'll be back to answer questions. :)

Veer Marketplace Update: New features and improvements <

......................................................................

A lot of improvements have been made to the Veer web site over the weekend. The new contributor upload system launched in June, and this month, Veer is busy making Marketplace a great place to buy low-priced images quickly and easily.

Veer Marketplace is now a complete credit-based community of buyers and sellers offering hundreds of thousands of quality microstock images.

Here's a summary of what's new: <

- The tens of thousands of awesome images that contributors like you have uploaded over the last month. Buyers can now search and license your images, and newly approved content will be added to the site daily.

- Credit-based pricing and payment, available in pay-as-you-go credit packs or through subscriptions.

- Images will be highlighted more prominently in veer.com search results with a new dual search pane that puts microstock next to traditional rights-managed and royalty-free images.

- An improved search experience will help customers filter search results by price with four tiers: Way Cheap (from $1), Cheap ($9-$100), Spendy ($49-$350), and Worth It ($49-$655).

Now that credit-based pricing and payment have been introduced, your royalties will be linked to the credits customers use to license images. For full details on credits packs, subscriptions, and how much you earn, check out the Veer Marketplace rate card.

http://contributor.veer.com/

......................................................................

There are also some important contributor changes to highlight: <

- More control over how your name, company name, or brand name is represented:  You can now add an alias on your Ideas member page, which will also appear on all image detail pages.

- Metrics on approved files:
On the "Approved" tab on your Dashboard, you'll now see metrics for the number of downloads and views, as well as total royalty earned for each file. A complete royalty and statistics panel is coming soon.

- Illustration setting for JPEG files:
You'll notice a new set of radio buttons in the metadata section in the Prepare and Submit tab on the Workspace page.  You don't need to change anything for photos, but selecting "Illustration" for JPEG-based, non-photo illustrations helps ensure search filters include your files in illustration searches. EPS vectors are automatically marked as illustrations, so no changes are necessary for those files.

- Age range and ethnicity on model releases:
If you choose to use the model release dropdowns for age range and ethnicity, the appropriate keywords will automatically be added to those images.

I discovered that the views figure also includes our own views, even when logged in. One of my image previews is badly pixelated and I emailed them about it. I kept checking throughout the day to see if it had been fixed, and I just realized that each of my visits logged another view.

So don't look at your own files if you want to maintain accurate statistics. :) Maybe they can exclude our views at some point? I am pretty sure that at istock that they do not count if we are logged in.

I have to say that I LOVE the side-by-side search results. They are hard to ignore, even if you had no intention of using microstock. Definitely the first of its kind. Also, it is very easy to enter a PO number and purchase credits on the fly from your corporate account.

Also just discovered that they fixed the suggested keyword list so that it stays open when you click "more" instead of closing after each selection. This was a requested fix and a great time saver!

So do we have to set up our own portfolio of our images or will that be done automatically and linked to our member page? In other words, when someone searches for an image, they click on mine, they see my name and they click on it, will it go to my portfolio or to my member page where they then can see my whole portfolio?

I am hoping to see this too. Their RM images have this function, and the RF do by collection (not sure if there are individual artist RF portfolios or if all are part of a collection.) It would be nice to be able to link to our portfolio from our own web sites, etc.

Brian - I'm sorry if I am being stupid here, but I can't see any way to get to a detail page. Clicking on the image in my approved list just shows the name of the photo in a pop-up box, and I have failed to find any of my photos using the search tools. How would I find an image with the SKU 1414518 ?

I entered the SKU number in the search field and got this page:
http://marketplace.veer.com/images/1414518_Washington-Monument-reflected-in-tidal

It looks like there is a title and keywords but no description. I did not find your image doing a search for Washington Monument because your image does not have Washington Monument as a keyword. I did find it doing a search for Washington DC monument, because you do have keywords "Washington DC" and "monuments" in there. The images that were returned in the search for Washington Monument have "Washington Monument" as a keyword.

ETA: I don't think there is an easy link (or any at all) from your approved panel to the actual item pages (YET, hopefully). Everything that appears on those pages is right there on your panel. If there is a description it is listed on the far right of the item row, next to the release field.

My email was hiding in the spam folder. Perhaps those of you who also use Hotmail can find it there as well.  ;)

I suppose I will finish my uploading. I uploaded 100 when it was first opened but without any stats and all the site problems I decided to just wait awhile. Now that things seem to be progressing I will finish my uploading. Really hoping this becomes a hit to make up for the slower sales at some other sites.

When I do a search for my specific images, some of them can't be found at all and others can be found but the list of keywords is incomplete  :-\ Maybe the search is not fully functional yet?

the list of keywords is incomplete

Their search algorithm branches out from the words you enter. For example you may enter 20 words, but then it takes those 20 words and may search on 60 more or so. Brian explained this somewhere, and when you enter keywords it will say something like keywords entered (40) searching on (88) ...or whatever the numbers may be.

This could possibly explain why you feel the list is incomplete.

Well, I just did a search for "Knoxville" because I have several Knoxville location shots approved and got 0 results so I don't see how the search could be functioning optimally. In this case the search is not working at all. Maybe the site is still indexing the search terms?

I guess it is still problematic..

I had 54 pending files.

Now it is like:
31 pending, 5 rejected, 2 needs work = 38

Where are my 16 images? Because they are not under the approved tab.. They are nowhere!

I think Veer rushed this thing a bit!

That was exactly my point!

I understand that once a decision is made the project needs to move on at a reasonable speed but I can't get in my head why an existing RF/RM agency can't get a micro site up and running.

Most features that are being asked for are a must for every serious Macro agency. It's not uncommon that contributors want to see their royalties status or have straight portfolio links. I mean that's as basic as it gets.

They are probably approved but not added to database yet! Weird that they don't show on our panel..

That's possible. I'm just stunned that on some agencies things just fly and others take forever to update.

I think in a few hours it will be sorted out.

Yes, 18 of them appeared in approved images. But 16 of my images disappeared and they haven't been there for about 12 hours now.

What worries me is I think those 16 were approved before the 18 images that appeared. I now have too many images and it is very difficult to track which ones are those 16?

I don't think this is a good sign. 206 images there, 16 are nowhere. Where are they? ::)

Thanks - at least the images are there. No description though, and the keywords have been mangled in the import process to make the files invisible to normal search terms. How Cherry (as in blossom) gets changed to Cherries is beyond me...

It looks as though I will need to manually edit each file to get the description and keywords back to where they started - Brian?

There still seem to be some problems with keywords and search...

If I search for "elephant" I get zero results.

If I search for "elephants" I get 461. At least in my files I did use the singular term as keyword, not the plural. But they do appear when searching for "elephants".

The same for 'globe'and 'globes'. I have reported this already to support. Let's hope it will be fixed soon.
