Before I became exclusive with iStock in the middle of 2010, I made about $40 something from Veer.

I thought that the money would be paid to me at the end of 2010. But it has not arrived yet. I sent an email to Veer in January and no one has responded.

Is Veer going to keep the money?

They no longer do the automatic end-of-year payments. This was announced last June with the updated contributor agreement:

It looks pretty cool to me:

That said something...

Thanks for the links.

I terminated my Veer account before June. At that time, Ryan specifically told me that my payment would be sent at the end of the calendar year. It's disgusting that they can change the terms of our agreement, even after fact and without notice.

Roberto, I don't understand your link. What does it have to do with my question about Veer payment?

Surely as an exclusive istock contributor, you can see the irony of your statement. ;)

If you cancelled your account prior to July 2010, it seems it would fall under the previous terms, per this section of the announcement:
Quote
If I want to opt out of the new agreement, what do I need to do?
If you choose to not agree to the terms of the new Contributor Agreement, then you must cancel your Veer account prior to July 10, 2010. Contact us at [email protected] to request to cancel your account.

I would contact support to inquire about it, specifically pointing out that you are not bound by the new agreement because you followed the procedure as outlined. Of course this is assuming that you did not already include that bit of information in your original contact.

You might want to step up the formality of their request. Send your request in writing to their head office. Send it certified (or whatever form of mail you would use to get a receipt for whoever signed for it). Reference the prior e-mail and restate your request to be paid under the terms of the contract in force when you left. If you have the other person's e-mail saying the money would be paid at the end of the year, or the date of the phone call with Ryan, reference that.

There's no point in legal action over $40, but sometimes getting their attention when they're trying to ignore you may get the money taken care of.

Same here. I was told specifically by Ryan:
We'll be sorting out some way of handling account cancellation payout situations, since we of course owe you all royalties earned.  I'll have to get back to you once we figure out how that will work.

Very reasonable, but I've never heard back from him. I've sent a couple of emails recently, but did not get a response. It's such a small amount of money, but it's the principle, right?  ;D

I just got a reply from Ryan. He said my account was only deactivated, and upon a permanent cancellation request, Veer would pay me. So I made the request.

Thank you, Ryan.

Oh. Thanks for that -- I'll do that, too, once I decide for sure that I'm staying exclusive. So far, the results have been far worse than I anticipated.
