I just sent Veer e-mail asking if anything's changed with respect to opting out of partner sales - and if not, to take my payout at the end of the month and close my account. They're handling the closure - there's no opt out - and say it'll take 90 days to get my images removed from all sites.

I have had it with the wretched setup with partners and AgeFotostock/easyFotostock was just the final straw.

easyFotostock is a subsidiary of ageFotostock - both have my Veer images - but the license terms at easyFotostock basically include extended licenses. Look at the ad on ageFotostock's page "Go & buy cheap! Extended License Included. No extra fees whatsoever

http://www.agefotostock.com/age/en/Default.aspx

One of my images at easyFotostock says the source ageency is "Kallum"! At least my copyright is there although you can't search on someone's portfolio

http://easy.agefotostock.com/easy/ingles/easyenim01.asp?foto=22361818&light=&foto_clave=ESY-002659167

At least on ageFotostock you can search to see a portfolio (albeit one of a photographer stigmatized as "low budget"

http://www.agefotostock.com/age/en/Search.aspx?author=Jo+Ann+Snover

Given that age owns easy, I don't know why the photo is in both places, but here's the page about licensing from easyFotostock:

http://easy.agefotostock.com/easy/ingles/abag01b.asp

"easyFotostock does not sell credits to download photographs; easyFotostock licenses free of risk. We dont offer "Extended Licenses" that sound good, but in reality are very difficult, if not impossible, to be regulated. easyFotostock images meet the demand of clients who need quality imagery for their projects, but require an affordable price and buying convenience, without having to read between the lines of a complex license agreement."

I guess I'll put a note in my calendar to go check these sites at the end of June to make sure my images are gone

It's a shame that some agencies just have no concern whatsoever with the rights of contributors - Chelsea (when she was with Veer) had said they were considering an opt out, but obviously that didn't happen:

Some prior threads on ageFotostock and their view of microstock photographers:

In closing, I'm reminded of a quote from the late Ann Landers (I think it was her) - People can only take advantage of you if you let them.

Hyperlinks are not on board. Why is that?

Because you're new here - it's an anti-spam measure. It'll resolve after a certain number of posts (I think it's posts not time).

And I am OPT OUT - I closed my account a month ago, right after their reply for my email

I still can't understand why people upload images to agencies that give images away (through PP) without our permition...  ::)

No respect - no images!
No images - no agency!

Thanks, Jo Ann, for spotting this and letting us know. I also found a bunch of my own images, all shown as part of the "Kalium" collection and listed as "low budget royalty free." At least my name is included as the copyright holder, but that's not much comfort.

Not sure yet what I'll do about the images Veer et al currently have, but I haven't uploaded to Veer in over a year and don't plan to give them any more.

Found some of my images there too. I haven't uploaded to Veer in a longish while already, and may well close account soon - no big loss as sales have been phenomenally sluggish on my Veer port since many months.

I'm more and more getting behind the idea of clean up and return to basics.  Simply applying the 80/ 20 ratio it just doesn't look worth it either for control of work nor the returns many of these sites generate.

Have also marked April in my calendar as I understand that's when one can opt out of Alamy distribution partners ..

Great thread, thanks.

I've just sent Veer an email asking how to opt out of their partner programs, and if that's not possible ask that they please close my account. I haven't ever earned much from Veer, after 4 years, so it's not a great sacrifice.

It feels good to get out of these messy/problematic situations. I'm happy to pull back to the few sites that work well for me and don't give away my creative work all over the world.

FWIW, agefotostock is one of the few long term, still owned by the same people,  stock agencies left in the world. They have always had a very high reputation amongst photographers. They have always paid on time, and paid a full 50% even on RF images, this when the immediate trend was to pay 20%. Lots of noses out joint here but believe there are way worse places for your images to end up.

You want to Age p s?

Asked: Do you sell images through partners and re-sellers and do I have option opt in/ opt out?

"Please be aware that our images collections are distributed worldwide through an extensive network of agents, in addition to our direct representation within Spain, France and the USA.  Photographers dont have the option of choosing to be included or excluded from an agent."

Btw, they want Color Space: Adobe RGB 1998

[Veer Email Content]
Hi, I can get the removal process started. It usually takes a few weeks to get the images offline, though it may take longer to get them removed completely from our system and partner sites. Please refer to Part X, section D of our Contributor Agreement for specific information:

http://contributor.veer.com/images/pdf/Veer_Contributor_Agreement.pdf

Any remaining royalties will be paid out after your images are confirmed removed from Veer and all partner sites.
