I had the unpleasant surprise to see my images marked with www.visualphotos.com and previews 650px on the long side with a small C watermark in the top left corner . See for yourselves

My images are there too. I send them an email about their wartermark, asking to change it to a more adequate version. Maybe everyone else should do this too.

Their watermark is very efficient especially on white background.

More great news: "Visual now represents Shutterstock"

Edit: Wow, it seems that they have already moved watermark to center. It was really fast.

Just checked my email. And I received an email back from Visual Photos very shortly after I contacted them:

Thank for your message. You're absolutely correct. this collection wasn't suppose to go live yet. We'll take care of this shortly. Thanks for pointing this out.

I got to say, they did moved fast on this.

What concerns me now more is that they also have some of my editorial images, and except for the information that there is no model release available, there is no information that the images are editorial

How are you able to tell Veer is providing the images?  They don't seem to have any of mine, but I have a relatively small portfolio there.

Hopefully you are joking?   ???

It must be a partner that also has editorial images. They only have a small part of my portfolio, so the numbers don't match with any other agency.

It's on their homepage. I got scared but it's just referral link to SS homepage. It seems that they are not going to sell SS images themselves.

There's a small text in red above any image - Veer MS . There are also images marked Yay and Corbis .

The watermark protection is better now

Sounds like it's just an api partner for referrals.

Thanks.  It would be weird to me that one link would be the only way they will represent Shutterstock.  What I'm thinking based on what Visual Photos told oboy "this collection wasn't suppose to go live yet" that maybe they will start to have SS images on their site.  This might explain the source of the editorial images?

They responded to my complain that the editorial image are not marked as editorial. Saying again that they are sorry, but this image collection should had not been online yet. Say forwarded the this to their techs and it is hopefully soon fixed.

Looks like the images that are live from me there are from Veer, and YAY. But it is only a very small part of my portfolio.

Does Yay have editorial?  I've never looked into them.

Yes, YAY Micro accept editorials.

Yeah, well I don't contribute to Veer or Yay, so I don't think my images are there. If they were, I'd be making a stink about the whole copyright mark being next to www dot visualphotos dot com. Whoever has images there might want to check whether they removed your copyright data completely (assuming you put it in your metadata).

edit: looking at a couple of images, I don't see photographers names anywhere. That's just wrong.

I also talked to them about the copy right symbol with www.visualphotos.com next to it. As a respond I received:

Quote
The copyright symbol indicates that the image is copyrighted. It doesn't indicate the owner. This is always the photographer. The url is there because customers many times download an image to test it in the layout but when they want to license the image they don't remember which site they used for the download. The url is there to remind them along with the image code so they can look it up (and buy).

So they basically admit our names will nowhere to be found there?

Are we sure Visual Photos will be an  official Veer partner? My pics arent there....yet. (just to know who to contact for deleting my port, my pics arent going anywhere where i dont get credit. Not to TS, not to Visual Photos..)

They don't "represent" Shutterstock, the link assigned to that text is a referal link to Shutterstock. I've seen this kind of sites before, they make galleries of SS images and when you click on the thumbnail, they send you to SS via their referal code. Pathetic way to hunt for referal earnings...

Well, it looks like the image are coming from Veer and YAY Micro. So far they are not listed at the partner program on YAY Micro. But then they were also saying the the images are excellently already online.

They do give credit with the line Photo by xxxxxxusernamexxxxx

They do give credit in *some* cases; it looks like it depends on the collection...
I hope its because some of the collections are wholly owned content, but it still worries me the Veer collection that was pushed too early did NOT have the photographers name included (yet...?)...
