I've sent my ten photos to get accepted by Veer, mostly industrial and travel, since this is what I sell the most of. Since they asked me to send my ten best, I only sent photos that have been accepted by all other agencies, and only photos that are top sellers, which in my case means hundreds of sales. Many of the photos are motives that give zero hits when searching at Veer.

All rejected for different reasons, flat lighting being the most common. While Veer is obviously free to head in any direction that they want, I get a sneaking feeling here that somebody has had the brilliant idea that they are going to become something unique within this business.

If there's one thing that has been proven again and again, it is that uniqueness sells, but in tiny numbers, while those with large, complete selections of photos sell in large numbers. Like in iStock vs. Crestock or Dreamstime vs. Lucky Oliver.

Veer will possibly last longer than Snapvillage, but after a few searches for photos that I could use as a graphic designer, which is what I mostly do for a living, I'm not terribly impressed, and that goes for the flat lighting too.

It's always dangerous to draw conclusions from a single data point, or in your case ten.  My own experience has been different: nine of my first ten accepted and a 72% acceptance ratio for my first few hundred submissions.  That'll improve, now that I know not to bother sending buildings without property releases or nudes of any level of exposure.

Still waiting for more than a handful of views, to say nothing of sales.  Veer may indeed turn out to be another Crestock in terms of sales (my eighth performer over the past year), or they may generate significant revenue.  I'm willing to give them the chance.

I would be willing to give them a chance as well, but when they don't want my best selling photos, I don't really see why I should bother. I could of course submit photos that were more mainstream, giving them the technical quality or whatever it is they want, but then they would end up in the big pile with everything else, making less sales for me and for them.

I had to seen in a total of three batches before I got in the door.  Out of the 31 images they have so far selected, I was shocked to see which ones they liked and didn't like.  Travel buildings, beaches, etc have not been accepted very often out of my images.

I've noticed that  their selection of travel photos is very poor. I sell a lot of travel photos. Oh well, maybe I should just upload some run-of-the-mill studio shots, and see what they  say...

For some reason I can't navigate on this site. How do I see my earnings and such? It drives me insane that I don't know where to click

Edit: Looks like I'm set up for a buyers account, though I have sent in and had 10 images approved. I can't find those images nor any other contributor options

There is currently no sales summary page. You'll need to scroll through the list of approved images. If you have only 10 so far, you are lucky.

If you are logged into your Veer customer account, click on the "Account" text link in the top right of page. Then click on "Your Member Page *NEW*" in the list of text links on the next page. Now on the right you should see an orange box titled "Veer Marketplace". Click on "Dashboard" and then the "Approved" tab to see your file stats.

Obviously I recommend setting up a bookmark to your member page. ;)

Well once you get in the door...I would still upload them.  You just might now want all your original 10 images travel looking.  I also find the site difficult...I have bookmarked it like suggest sense its a maze to get to your portfolio.

Yes, that is a more direct route. I was giving directions based on the statement that he was already logged into buyer account. ;)

Wow!  I just had 49 out of 65 rejected.  My first thought upon getting the email about it was "Wow!  Is this Veer or Crestock?"  :(  I suppose I should be glad that they took 16 of them.  Most all the files were rejected for "The subject matter is outside of Veer Marketplace's current needs " it makes me wonder what their current needs really are.  And, more importantly, why are they turning a blind eye to their future needs?  *shrugs*

Wow, thanks! I hadn't noticed the $-statements

No sales so far though ;)

If this turns out to be a new Crestock in terms of slow sales and massive rejections, I'm off.. But I don't think you can really tell by now, give it a year or two to grow

I submit only good clean images of attractive models...so far 19 rejects due to backlight and similars...they don't like that...and 184 accepted...another 65 pending,

After less than 1 week had first sale and 36 views. A promising start. Have 233 images on Shutterstock and so far 300 downloads in 3 weeks.

This and Shutterstock are far and away the most user friendly and clean looking sites...most of them are a mess and a pain to submit to.

I feel like reviews are really inconsistent. At first if got almost everything rejected but my last batch was complete oposite, almost everything accepted. I think they previously rejected better photos than currently accepted.

I got couple views a day and two sales since they started so I have very low expectations for them.

Veer, the new Crestock?

Is it the new Crestock? Not in my book, because I actually make money at Crestock.

I've sold 17 so far and they are not running for such a long time so I'm not too disappointed. Considering the other 'new'comer Yay. I'm doing better at Veer with less images...

I have been with Veer for less than 2 months, 20 views and 1 sale.  So far I am very pleased.  With Crestock, I'm still trying to understand their strategy!  They are frustrating - more rejections than approvals.

There site was a pain to navigate, they told me for 3 months that they were going to move my SV images over but never did, took two months to close my account and my emails were almost never answered, they also never sent me message saying I was automatically accepted to Veer so I asked them why not and they said I should have been but then never did.  I got all 10 of my images I uploaded there off as fast as I could, they don't seem to have it together at all.

I've had my doubts about Veer too, but I have been seeing some growth in views and sales the last week or so.

It was pointed out by Whatalife in another thread that it is still way too early to draw any conclusions about Veer.  It appears they are approaching the micro business in a different way than the other micros.

The impression I get is that they are trying to find a middle ground between the quality and service of traditional stock with the price point of micro.  If successful it would certainly fill a valuable segment of the market.

FWIW my contacts with their contributor support team have been extremely positive, quite a bit beyond what I have been accustomed to from most of the micros.

Not in my book either. I'm getting fairly good sales at Veer, and so far, they've accepted most of what I've thrown at them. Can only agree with Hofhoek's views.

They did port my images from SV, and for me veer have been a lot more accepting than crestock. Sales not exactly blowing my mind with roughly 20c/image/year but it's EARLY DAYS! and I feel quite good going for a site only about 3 months old - that figure is also perhaps a reflection on the quality of my work not on them!

Plus all of that is ONLY coming from veer and their own advertising. Not sure what their plans are and I don't want to go off thread waxing on about affiliate marketing and selling via api's, wordpress plugins, istock not doing that and loosing ground yadda yadda.

When I contacted them they said that i would have to submit 10 but that they would automatically approve them so that I could upload more images but then never transferred the SV images and after a month I had no views so I'm sure there was some problem there too that was not allowing my images to be seen, I could never find them in the search.  Just seemed like every part of the experience was frustrating and nothing ever got done.

I am making more at Crestock too.  But I have not been PAID by Crestock in months.  They owe me two back payouts and are about to owe another one.

What good is having sales if you can't collect your money ???
