I was just browsing VideoBlocks and noticed they now have an option for non-members to purchase clips with the price being $79 for HD and $329 for 4K.

I've browsed the contributors FAQs on the site and there's no mention of this new pricing option. My question is do we get the full amount of this higher price or do Videoblocks now take a commission?

Not too sure, but that option has always been there as far as I know. It's a means to get people to sign up to their membership. I would have thought (or hoped) that we'd still get the 100%, I mean all the bumf says you'll get 100%, rather than $49.

Ah ok maybe I was just slow at noticing it, all my royalties so far have been $49 or $199 and not at those higher prices points.

It's not that... I can't remember the wording but it says something like the clips are $79 normally, but if you sign up for a VideoBlocks account, then you get them for $49 instead.

It's always been like that as Spacey says. That is just more incentive for people to sign up.

Does this answer the question if we still get the 100% of the $79 sale price?

Unfortunately not, but seeing as all the documentation says 100%, then that should apply to any sale, no matter the sale price. They'd have to say if you got a different percentage on certain sales, and I've not seen that anywhere.

We are always testing ways to drive sales of our subscriptions and your clips. This is one test that allows a non-member to check out, its a temporary membership fee (which is how its split out in the customer invoice). We think that more people seeing Marketplace clips will generate more sales to you. Another test that is live right now is a discounted membership with the purchase of a Marketplace clip. Were covering $50 per subscriber in their first year with the hope of attracting more members that buy from the Marketplace. Were constantly coming up with ways to drive sales and subscriptions, so youre likely to see lots of changes that push Marketplace sales. Always happy to chat further!

Thanks for chiming in, Mike. I am assuming that since it's a temporary membership fee, the $79 is 100% commission? Or am I missing something?

based on what he said, it being split on the customer invoice, it sounds like VB is keeping the $30 difference as a membership fee.

Is there a reason you're bumping these old threads?

His other thread about getting 38 cents at SS when he just started selling two weeks ago makes me think troll, but I could be wrong.

re: "Is there a reason you're bumping these old threads?"

at the bottom of the forum they say "new" after them, so I thought they were recent threads, but I see that they are not, and the 'new' indicator is not accurate in regards to recency.
