Transaction fees

(1/2) > >>

Noedelhap:
Today I received my payment from VideoBlocks. First of all, thanks for the timely payment.

However, I know you charge a small creditcard fee ($1,84), a small fee for Paypal ($1) because of your payout manager Tipalti, and that's fine by me. It's mentioned in the FAQ, so I can live with that.
But why then do I have to pay the transaction fee to Paypal (3,4%) as well? Feels like I'm double-charged for transaction fees. Most agencies I know pay this particular transaction fee themselves.

In short: of the $49 sale I get to keep $44,06 at the end. That's a total of 10,1% on fees.

cobalt:
Maybe they need to update their manual, but it looks they are really paying out everything to you. The agencies that pay for paypal costs keep 50-70% of the royalty. If you want videoblocks to pay for that as well, they will have to take a royalty.

Congratulations on the sale!

Zach-VideoBlocks:
Congrats Noedelhap!

Cobalt has got the general idea here. That said, I totally understand the nickel-and-dime feel that comes from these third-party processes. We've negotiated where possible to keep the fees as low as possible, and as we keep growing we'll do what we can to make things even better.

the fault certainly isn't on the agency's part here anyway -- it's rather a problem with the general banking system and, actually, one that goes back to biblical times as money exchangers have been on record for ripping off people since Jesus' days (I mean, literally)...

As Bitcoin has been discussed elsewhere on MSG, all this is actually a good hint at what Bitcoin along with selected other Crypto coins can do for Microstockers (as well as a host of other people on the planet dependent on worldwide payments). Maybe that real innovators might want to consider going in this direction as well? Would be a good fit for VideoBlocks' concept (even when the initial 100% times are up) and would be interesting to hear from you, @Zach, if VideoBlocks can see themselves adding BTC, DOGE, Peercoin, Mintcoin, or litecoins etc one day?

We're not talking "Bitcoin as an instrument for sepculation" here but Bitcoin as a tool for innovation (so it's not about BTC to USD rates but rather about **free, secure transactions** and worldwide free transmission of value).

The downside of BTC is that it is highly volatile and expensive to exchange into money with which to buy groceries, fuel etc
