Title: Video blocks Survey
Post by: Mantis on June 21, 2016, 08:03
Like many of you I got a VB survey. I filled it out.  My main things were "yes I like the 100% commission" and the one thing I don't like is "slow sales".  That's probably going to be the tone of the survey. But one question makes me reflect on the old Istock "money doesn't matter" comments.  Here is a screen shot of that question. I am wondering if this is a prelude to something forthcoming where VB can claim "money doesn't matter" sometime down the road as a reflection of this survey.

My biggest concern, like many others here, is that they cut the 100% commission but keep pricing at $49. We've been talking about this since VB started....almost claiming it is inevitable that they will cut commissions. This just seems to be a prelude to that.....to me anyway. YES, 100% MATTERS.

So who's gonna answer "no" to that question?  ;)

Edit: Actually...is this a buyer or contributor survey?

I think 1% or 100% comission really doesn't matter since you get from VB more than from any other agency in total (this May for me and my husband). You walk in a store with money but not percentage of comission.

It matters because their clips are only $49.

$49 is quite fair price for HD already :) Just check Videohive or Pond collections. If they apply lets say 90% commission and spend those 10% on better servers, marketing and SEO which will allow them sell 30% more for example - who will suffer in this case?

The insane thing is, after reading all the short-sighted, mathematically blind, "I don't care what our percentage is" iStock-loving lemmings on this forum, a ridiculous amount of contributors will probably say "no". It really doesn't "matter" to them.

100% is great for us right now, sure, I enjoy the 4k sales, but probably not in the long run. VB will end up losing money on our footage.

I would be perfectly happy with 80-90% so that VB has an incentive to market our material. Would also be great to be able to choose tiered pricing from $49-99 or something like that.

they should up minimum pricing to a slightly more respectable $59
