Upload process is the best hopefully their marketing team is as good as programmers

What do you think will be tha place of yaymicro in your earners championship?
-
I am at beginning so everything except SS allows me to buy one coffee per months. I will be happy when it will be two coffees :-)

Their upload process is amazingly simple and efficient. They also have a very streamlined and fast interface which should benefit slower connections. I am looking forward to their opening their doors soon ...

I don't think I uploaded anything there yet. The recent deception with LO made me suspicious of any new site.
Maybe I'll upload on the weekend.

Upload process is beautiful. A positive pleasure to use.
But the bottom line will be sales.
We'll see ...

I like yay but what I think isnt a good idea is their acceptance ratio.
Honestly I only had a 100% at mostphotos ;)
For my taste all my photos are ok (thats why I upload them) but when you make a search there you find a few :-\ photos.
Raising the standars will be fine for me

I don't expect any magnificent numbers of sales the in the beginning. I was reading that they start with their marketing projects in September, because of the low in the industry in the summer. This probably will give them also time to eliminate any bugs in the system on the buyer site until they start marketing.

I expect it to take a while before we see significant sales, but I really wish them luck with the launch. The professional way they have conducted themselves so far has been a delight.
Snapvillage take note of how it should have been done!

I think that is a result of their owners coming from one of the large European "Macro" sites. I too believe they have done everything in a very professional way by not rolling out the site as "beta"prior to opening its doors.

My one worry is the same as Trebuchet's - their very easy-going acceptance policy.
Of course, all my submitted images have been accepted without question. Not a single rejection - which is exactly as it should be. ;D ;D ;D ;D
But, seriously, some of the images they have are a wee bit iffy. I'd be happier if they were somewhat more selective.
(Weird, isn't it? We complain when we get rejected, but we get worried if we're not.)

They did reject one of mine (out of about 300). It was a creative blur shot. I wouldn't have submitted if I myself did not think the image had merit. They just didn't want it is all.
You're right about the reject rate being too low, but in my limited browing there did not see too much of the "crap" factor. The majority of what I looked at was pretty good to useful, and of course a lot of nice higher end looking images as well.
-
... but in my limited browing there did not see too much of the "crap" factor. The majority of what I looked at was pretty good ...
Well, try searching on 'business' and look at first page that comes up, second row down. Whaddya think? All 'pretty good"?
-
The low crap value is probably because the invitations went out to active contributors and not too many "outsiders" knew about the site. Once the site is out there for the newbies is when the junk will start to flow in. I think the reject rate will go up appropriately as we go along.
I wish the site well, although I have mixed opinions about their desire not to use "traditional" marketing. I hope it won't be anything like LO's misguided attempts. The biggest fear I have is that this Government of Norway backed site will have the heavy hand of bureaucracy involved, rather than true entrepreneurship. So far they have done everything else right. My favorite type of soap opera.
----------------
Hey, I've seen MUCH worse than that example under "business". There are 12,949 under that heading, and lots I looked at were excellent.
-
Hi
I do remember when StockXpert took everything - and look at now . So one day (May be) Yay will do the same thing.
-
They simply have to build some volume initially. To open shop with 1000 good images is not going to draw as much fanfare as 50,000 moderate - good photos. And as I've always contended, tis not OUR place to judge whether a shot is "good" or "useful", that judgement lies soley in the hands of the buyers and their $$$.

exactly ;)

;))) The businessman "on its way to a boardroom meeting" is hilarous!

It's more than hilarious ... it's bizarre.
And it makes me ever so slightly nervous about Yay. How could they accept something like that with the weird pose, cable trailing, etc. etc.?
And it comes up on the first page, second row.
Like I said, makes me a bit nervous.
-
Bateleur, you're right, but it made me laugh big time;)
p.s.: Can't say that I'm nervous, though. The uploading process was a breeze and the guys, especially Roger, are very helpful and friendly. Hope they make something out of it. But I would be angry if I spent days uploading and keywording (which I of course didn't).
So, any sales yet, guys?
-
First sale here, for 5€ royalty (large).
Funny, I just wanted to see how looked the statistic side, and saw that first sale made today. Anyone else ?
There is no mail alert.
5€ a day on Yaymicro is ok and a good start for me :D
-
Congratulations :D
-
Today is the big day! Hope to see some downloads soon :D If I get one today on the first day of opening, I'll do a little dance.
I managed to get 1132 images up and approved so far - was hustling to get them on before today, and barely made it by the skin of my teeth.
-
Before upload a part of my portfolio here I'd like to know how easy is to delete images at Yaymicro. I don't want to make same mistake that I made with Dreamstime and Albumo.
Thanks

Each photo has a delete button...not sure if you can delete the whole port with one click.

Had one sale first thing this morning - 5€ royalty.

Wow! Congratulations! First sale on the first day. That's great.
And 5 Euro royalty. Not bad.

Uploaded some but not too many.
Waiting & Seeing!!

Wow, that was fast! Congrats! What is the inaugurating image?

I've got just over 300 images there, and hope they do well.

161 up there for me with more pending as the web form upload process is a breeze :)

Do they pay thru moneybookers?
-
Hey, the site has been up a day and I haven't got a bunch of sales yet!!!
Relax. I'm just practicing in case this one turns out to be another LO.
-
LOL.
I really like the site. Started uploading today. In next few days I plan to upload about 3000 images. Maybe it will be waste of time, but I am confident that it might pay off. We shall see. I expect at least 30 euros income per month from Yay, everything less would be a waste of time.
-
I've whacked up something like 250 images to start off with. Really excited to see how this one goes, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for them.
-
I love the upload system. I think there no better upload system...
-
I'm breaking my personal rule about not uploading to small/new sites to give Yaymicro a try. It's mainly in response to the Fotolia fiasco. Since I have time to upload in place of Fotolia, I decided to do some research on Yay.
It looks like they have an experienced, impressive management team in place. That gives one hope they will survive and become a player. They are saying the right things with their open communication in the forums - particularly regarding their upcoming advertising campaign.
The site itself is as smooth as silk. I am very impressed, though let's see how well it moves along once there are five times as many contributors and five times as many buyers.
The upload process is truly the best. Imagine the Shutterstock upload process minus the categories. It's really that good.
So I will give them 6 months (unless I go exclusive somewhere in the meantime). I'll be patient for the first 3, but months 4-6 I expect to see some results.
I'm encouraged so far though. They seem to have a far superior system to the other small/new players, such as MostPhotos, Snapvillage, and Albumo. And unlike Featurepics, they apparently plan to promote the site. Fingers crossed.
;)

I actually don't like that they offer editorial (the prices are higher but still far too low for editorial content to make it worth it) so i never considered to support them but i'm so furious about FUtolia that maybe it's time to give a new site a chance is there a possibility to option-out for subscription?
-
No, but subscriptions are only good for Medium size or smaller, and each sub sale pays 1 Euro. Amazing!
