Title: The image of the week: 5 steps to pose naturally!
Post by: Sylvia - YAY Images on May 19, 2013, 16:45

Beside all technical requirements, shooting with models is not easy at all! The image of the week comes to help us with a great and simple example of how to do it right.

It seems to represent, to me at least, a good-looking guy eyeing a pretty woman. They don't look all that mad. And is it just me or is the couch floating in the air? Nice casual expressions though.

Yup, my first thought was 'how long did she have to hold her foot in that position?' - I tried it and got cramp in my thigh starting after about 4 seconds, and my second thought was, 'how does that sofa stay in midair?'
Didn't see any hint of a domestic. He is ogling her bum, haven't a clue what she's doing/thinking (trying to ignore the cramp, likely).
Good image for a caption competition, or as you put it, "Funny cards for couples, by adding an inspired text."

Added: I don't shoot people in studios, and I do appreciate how difficult it is.

I don't shoot people images and I don't buy images either, so maybe it is just me: I was looking at the image for a while before reading any text/caption. "Couple having a disagreement" was definitely not what I saw.

Does this image sell? And what is it used for, I wonder?

Deleted

(Have reconsidered commenting as the photographer didn't opt to have his/her work scrutinised in MSG).

^ sheesh! poor guy, he can't help it if the woman was hot, it's in his DNA to look! he must have a special way of looking that really upsets women, or he's just a creep? (I'd bet if he was hot she wouldn't have filed)

he tends not to look into the women's eye. She is very attractive and well endowed thus I know where is eyes where when he spoke to her. Just glad he isn't a photographer  ;D

I would suggest choosing better images that represent the post you're trying to make.  The floating couch, dirt on the floor, mysterious back left leg, are all obvious things that distract from the point trying to be made, even if the point isn't that valid here.

Different opinions, funny comments... I think it's actually a good thing that there are many various points of view about it. A bad image doesn't let space for thinking and comments.

I like the image and I could imagine it as a successful outdoor advert and not only...

Of course, we can find some elements that could have been done differently, depending on our particular vision about it. But take a look in the archive of any agency searching for "couple" and "disagreement"... Many of the models seem quite fake. It's actually a challenge to build a picture on topics like human feelings...

p.s.: I would say she just complained about his insufficient salary but he also noticed the label on her jeans: Secret Circus (they are just $1.3 million)... To be continued...  ;D

So is this the new version of "pretty woman with headset smiling" photo?

but surely you can't read the label on her jeans, cos stock models don't wear logo'd clothes?   :P
