I am curious ... who has had any sales at YaMicro?
I have 292 images online there currently and I am in the process of uploading another 800 or so to them. I am still waiting on my first sale there ...

I had one sale for 1 € (only 190 images online).
Who has had multiple sales? :)
-
I had 10 sales in almost one year with a portfolio of circa 800 images. Total revenue 34.5 euros which brought me one payout. I stopped uploading because the lack of sales and I think seriously to delete my account there. Not worth!

I checked back in at Yay and see that I had my first sale this month. It was 1 Euro for a subscription sale on a portfolio of 309 images. Easy upload and I will continue to upload there and hope for some of those higher Euro sales I've seen people getting on this thread for their sales ...

I had about 11 sales there, but I was not as lucky as Ibogdan: RPD was slightly over 1 euro. Projected payout in 2012. Although I was in front of the search results for my (limited) nice subjects, I found out that my best Editorial seller (level 3) on DT had only 1 view on YAY.
I quit last month since I want a much tighter selection of sites to upload to.
-
i've had total of $40 or so, a sale every month r 3 -- i'd have dropped them long ago but for
- they're easy to submit to
- royalty is high
- they're pleasant to deal with

Sounds like my grandma ;)

568 files online at the moment and ONE sale in november. I made one whole euro so far! Merry Christmas!
-
804 images online with two sales: One in July 2009, the other in October 2008.
-
I have had 2 sales there on about 200 images on line. Each was 5 Euro.

Up to 8 Euros now. Well worth the time spent uploading. </sarcasm>

I tried to check, but forgot my password.

Yay is just another flop. Almost two years in the business and I don't see any activity from them.
I also had several sales there until I've decided to delete my account.
I prefer to focus on the agencies that work harder (the big six) and where the payout is a regular thing. It must be us, the photographers to weed-out the agencies that are serious about this business (and this is a business not a payed hobby) and not keep feeding wanna-be projects.
Agencies must show commitment with contributors, live to the promises they make both in site development and marketing and we should give them a deadline. After almost two years of nothing Yay failed in all accounts.
-
I get a payout every 3 months from them, they are doing some things right. It is so effortless to upload, I will stick with them. If we all just stuck with the big 6, they would be the only sites left. It looks like 2 of the big 6 are being gobbled up after takeovers, so that leaves 4. How many decent sites would we end up with?
-
25 images in my portfolio with just under 700 sales ... LOL yeah right I don't even have an account there.
I will consider uploading to them after they pull that entire site down and do a complete redesign from the ground up .. My thoughts are the functionality and layout probably does not make much of an impression on a buyer if any at all. It reminds me more of a hobby blog with a generic photo script slapped in the middle of it or maybe a turnkey website you would buy off ebay for $50.
-
they recently made a post on their site about sales.

ah I like the thing about targeting more customers in China but more contributors is something they don't need to encourage :) 1 billion more competitors ?
Do people think China is a market that microstock agencies should be targeting ?

The design is very well adapted to the scandinavian customer. There is a big difference between Scandinavian and American websites, I find most american stockphotosites horribly messy and difficult to navigate.
-

No. The Chinese in general don't buy but sell. If they buy, there has to be a clear profit in for them. Stock photos are a commodity. On 1.3bn Chinese, "anybody" can do it there, cheaper. There is also still a huge IP problem in China and a large cultural and language divergence with the West. The real emerging market is India: English-speaking and culturally closer much to the West.
-
I pretty much agree with your take on Chinese, FD, but, the biggest selling car in China is a Buick. ;D

I am happy with my regular payouts from YayMicro.
I guess maybe the more people stick with the big 6 and stay away from contributing to new sites such as YayMicro the less competition there is for smaller players like us.
:)
-

Don't forget Volkswagen. Even though there is very huge import "luxury" tax on foreign cars, there are long waiting lines. The ultimate status dream of a Chinese manager is to drive around in a European car even a Golf that in Europe is a plain People's Car. The American cars lost a lot of karma lately. For genuine luxury items, China is becoming the largest market, just like it happened in Moscow. That is, for things that you can show off, not for commodities. Pictures and movies are commodities.

I have just 2 sales in September 09! 3 euros!
-
I had 4 in one day a couple of weeks ago :o
Hope it will happen again....but I guess I was just lucky ;)
-
10 sales (13.5 Euro) in 2 years, with 8000+ pics!
and the last one was 5 months ago
not so good
-
I've had 2 sales there since my last post on a portfolio of 309 images.
-Mark
-
Nothing here sales-wise since October. That = no more uploading despite the ease of doing so.
-
I get a sale every now and then but I am still waiting for their 3rd party sales, they are late reporting them. If anything goes wrong with that, it wouldn't be worth staying there.
-
Hi.
I have over 1200 images on yaymicro since september and I'm still waiting for my first sale!
What a waste of time!

I was wondering the same - when is the third party sales report coming?
-
Its like "Waiting For Godot", in one year I have had one third party sale for 8.72 euro. Waiting, waiting . . waiting . . . . . . wa . . . . . . . . .

I had put in for these 3rd party sales awhile back ... they said something about Feb. for their next batch which is now past. Will I receive any sort of notifications that my images will be utilized or not?

Its like "Waiting For Godot"
En attendant Godot, Samuel Beckett
"But that is not the question. Why are we here, that is the question.
And we are blessed in this, that we happen to know the answer.
Yes, in this immense confusion one thing alone is clear. We are waiting for Godot to come."

My third party sales (for the fourth quarter of 2009) have been reported today, a bit less than Q3 2009 but still ok.
Those sales make it worthwhile staying there, it pushes Yay before 123RF and Bigstock for me.

Same here! Almost equal as the last quarter but also before 123rf and BigStock for me too. I was REALLY impressed with their payment processing. It took only a couple of clicks and the money was in my Paypal account within seconds! If YAY can do it, other should be able to do it, too. YAY :)
-
Haven't received mine yet, hopefully they haven't forgotten me :'(
-
I haven't received mine either... maybe later today or tomorrow.
As for regular sales, it's dismal... 1/month average?

The same for me. :) I realy like YAYmicro

Just got my E-mail regarding 3rd party sales - requested payment and 7 minutes later it was in my paypal acct. Gotta like that. :D
-
2 sales in march! if this trend continues, I could even reach my first payout in 2012 >:(
-
I just checked the site for my sales after forgetting about Yay since January. Zero sales since then from 270 of my best images. I guess I'll check again in 2012.
-
3 sales in may for me
-
Yesterday I got one for me ;D
-
4760 images, 1 sale in nov, 2 in jan - I gave up
-
24 sales in nearly 2 years. No more uploading for me....
-
2 sales. 317 images.
-
it took me just 226 images to get discouraged.
1 sale.
-
I have 125 images there. Ten sales, but nothing since last August. At this rate I don’t expect to see a second payout. At least they have done better for me than Crestock, but that’s really d*mning with faint praise.
-
Is Yay still in business?
260 of my best = 0 sales this year.

Yes, they seem to be, had my first and last sale (only started a few months ago) in March. Not much but still better as others and I like their speed and service. Good luck to you!
-
Wow, a Yay sale.

After another month of great views and 0 sales I just sent them this email:
Please help.
I've had no sales this year even though views seem to be up substantially. I request that you check my account and see if there is a technical reason I have not had any sales credited to me since October 13, 2009. Thank you.
Lou
We'll see what happens. If I decide to pull all my images from there does anyone have any advice other than to delete them one-by-one?
-
3 sales this month for 2.5 euros. I will stick with them for the partner sales and see if they add more partners.
-
still worth to upload to yaymicro?
-
It's been 10 months since I got a sale. Not even worth checking the site. Absolutely no reason for me to upload there any more.
-
Something's going on ... good! For the last several quarters, all the sales I was getting were the 3rd party. I've had several since 8/25, so things are starting to look better. Whatever you're doing, YAY, keep it going! ;D
-
i happened to read the newsletter and realise that you need to apply for the 3rd party program? that's what in their website.
"If you want to join the 3rd party program, you'll need to go through a selection process. Make a project folder with your 100 best images and send it to [email protected]. We will then look at your portfolio and see if it could fit any of our partners. Usually selections are made on a quarterly basis, but this depends on the demands from our partners."
so why not make an option button to opt in or opt out? i totally didn't aware of it till i read the newsletter.

Writing a simple greasemonkey script may do the trick. But I don't usually remove my port from any site (unless they really did something bad to me): once pictures are there, the hard work is done. Why removing? The way microstock is changing everyday, having port on as many as possible site is a sort of guarantee.
By the way, I have about 1 sale per month at YAY with thousands of pictures, which is very bad of course. So I stopped uploading. But after what happened yesterday, I am rconsidering supporting low-earners as well as the big ones.
-
seven sales of my total 32 pictures ;D
I am happy so far!
-
Make a project folder with your 100 best images and send it to [email protected].
What do they mean by this? Upload 100 of them all over again in a fresh batch???
Confused.
-
thanks for pointing me to this agency. As beeing based in denmark, I think I will join in with them.

Nope! Go through your port on Yay. Under each image (not the thumbnails, but the full size image) there is a "add to project folder" button. When completed, go to your folder (there is a link at the top of the Yay site) and choose the "make folder public" option. This generates a link for your folder. Email that link to Yay. Done! Hope that helps, regards, David.

I think I ll make this month more money at Yaymicro than Istock kind of ironic

Last week I had my first sale at YayMicro! For 1,- EUR. ;)
I was waiting for this one to come for about 9 months. But I am happy with it anyway. Simply because I take my contribution to MicroStock agencies as a hobby & great fun mainly! :)
And also sale of my image for 1,-EUR makes me happy, although if I had more sales of my images I would be much, much more happy of course! ;D
I also see this sale as a good and positive sign actually! It tells that some sales are happening there. (Although very low and rare… I know … I know.)
But anyway, I am still thinking positively about them … hopefully more sales will follow!
This image was sold:
Isolated 3d model of ethanol [alcohol] - C2H6O molecule (http://yaymicro.com/preview.action?search.offset=7&search.id=1544723&search.limit=15&search.numResults=89&search.filterExplicit=true&search.sort=relevancy&search.photographer=jareso&referredBy=jareso)
Summary of my stats at YayMicro:
Online files: 89 (all 3D renderings)
Sales: 1
Online for about 9 months.
-
it is kind of funny because i guess many users are not aware of this 3rd party program... are only those images in folders are in it? or all portfolio?

The folder is an aapplication. If those pics are good enough, you get included. If not, you get turned down. If you are included, they will go through all of your pics regularly, and choose the ones they want for the Third Party Program.

oic..thank you.

A nice anomaly from Yay: The last 30 days I have had 5 sales at Yay from my miniscule port of approx. 100 images there. That’s way more than Bigstock and Canstock over the same period.
I’ve also seen my first low € 0.5 commision. Anyways, I hope this is a new trend for Yay sales volume.
-
I'd welcome any kind of trend in sales. :)
-
After a long, long time, I got another sale today on YAY.
This rendering was sold:
Email symbol in pink color scheme. (http://yaymicro.com/preview.action?search.id=1544593&referredBy=jareso)
Earnings: 2.5 EUR <– nice. :)
Hopefully more sales will come!
-
I've earned €1 in total for several years, but after I decided uploading my entire portfolio a week ago I just got three sales yesterday, €5 each. Nice to see they do have buyers :)
-
Yes, I also stopped uploading to YAY long time ago.+ I have only small portfolio there - 89 renderings, so chances for sales are probably low.
But now I am thinking about sending more to them. Maybe sales will raise a little bit.
-
do you guys apply for the '3rd party sales' something? i think you need to apply it in yaymicro with at least 100 images you choose.
-
I applied - creating folder with 100 pics and sending email - but never got an answer, either positive or negative, so I guess I am not accepted in the PP
Regarding sales, some sales now and then but too few to mention.
-
They've rised the limit to 500 pics for the 3. party program.

I think 500 pics is the minimum required size of your port, but you must still choose your 100 best pics

I wish I could apply but my port is too small

Here's the details page by the way, for anyone interested

Yes, that is how understood it too.

Okay, this new information says a port of minimum 500 pics. I don't think it was that high when I was accepted back in the beginning. So, Linda, I'm "assuming" the oldies get grandfathered in regardless of number of pics in their port?
Now, this second question is not to stir the "ugly" pot, but I'm just curious. The 3rd party info says that most of the images would probably be distributed to clients on CD or DVD because of where the clients are and because they haven't moved into the technological age we are presently in. It said it is nearly impossible to get an accurate record of the sales. So how do you (YAY) know exactly how many of our images have been sold by them to be able to give photogs (and you) proper credit if there is no way to really track it? I'm just wondering how accounting can actually be done if it can't really be tracked? :-)

Yes, the oldies were lucky enough to be included even with smaller ports. Basically we had to limit the number of applications from small contributors since it involves a fair bit of manual work.
When it comes to sales from CDs and DVDs it is done the way it was done before the spread of the internet and instant downloads. Every contributor who has images on a specific release (CD/DVD) gets paid for that image, regardless of what images are actually used/printed. Say a CD is produced with 1000 images and sold for $200. A 50 % commission to the photographers, means that every image earns $0.10 for every CD sold.
-
I have been in here since 2008 and I just sold so many many images to reach my first payout. ;D
I also have applied for the 3. rd party program a while ago, so I hope that I will get accepted soon. :-\
