Just found two more photos in my portfolio that were not uploaded by me.  I like zymmetrical but this is not good enough.  This problem needs to be fixed permanently or I will lose confidence in your site.  Do other people have my photos in their portfolios?

Here's the two that need to be put in the correct contributors portfolio.

Hi,

Sorry about that, I just checked and a big thumbnail transfer run last night went a little crazy in the middle.  The files in question were always attributed to you, the small preview thumbs just became overwritten.     I am working on tracking and correcting this, it just seems like a hiccup in the image processing caused this - temporary and not a widespread thing (famous last words).

Thanks

Just a followup, I turned these two files to 'offline' temporarily so they are at least not showing anyone wrong thumbs, until I fix it.

If anyone notices anything like this (not that I doubt you'd be in contact lol), please do let me know. We recently changed the system so on our European mirrors (zymmetrical.co.uk, zymmetrical.it, zymmetrical.de, zymmetrical.fr, zymmetrical.pl, zymmetrical.nl), thumbs are now physically located on European-based servers. This means a big increase in page download speed if you access the mirror that is on your side of the pond:

try browsing www.zymmetrical.com/art/photos/
vs
www.zymmetrical.co.uk/art/photos/

and you should notice an increase in the loadtime moving through the thumbs, depending on where you're located.

The hangup: synchronizing the thumbs across the servers had an issue, hence the 'wrong thumbs' problem in this thread.   As mentioned, I believe it's not a widespread thing, but you as the owners of your images would know instantly if there are wrong thumbs showing, so don't hesitate to speak up if you find one.

Thanks

I appreciate your quick response.  Isn't there a way to stop this happening?  This is the second time I have seen photos in my gallery that have nothing to do with me.  I use lots of sites and this doesn't happen with them and I am sure they are dealing with a lot more images.

On a positive note, I have had my first few sales with zymmetrical and now have $28 in my account, so you are starting to get that right :)

Well in my defense I think we are the first to geo-locate our thumbs for a faster browsing experience. :)  It is good for buyers but makes things a bit more complex with the code.     Yes I'm sorry there is no real excuse for such an issue- we are changing things daily here for the better, and annoying bugs go with the territory.

I'm sure you can appreciate that a bug like this may be hard for us to catch upfront because we don't know your photos in our heads like you do, so there would be no immediate flags for us other than getting feedback like you've given. Preventative steps for the future have been taken in this case.

I also found two files that aren't mine, and my two recent submissions aren't pending anymore, yet they are not in my portfolio nor in my rejected ones.  I wonder if someone else got them?

Maria, I responded to your email request as well, thanks.   There is no need for people to wonder if they have dupes or incorrect thumbs.   Your incorrect thumbs were the result of trying to push the limits of how many photos can be pumped through the system in a day, and showed up in our logs as a problem. As soon as I got in front of a screen it was resolved.

We also have spent the day with the problem code in particular, and have reworked it to more reliable - basically instead of trying to run 30 photos in one script, we  are now calling the script once for each photo. This makes it less susceptible to all the kinds of hiccups that can happen in a public, processing-heavy web application.

that's funny. with most of you, you find more files than you have.
in my case, it's the opposite. i see my approved files say 10 images. but i can only see 8.
maybe 2 went to one of you  ???

I'm sorry, but this happened 3 months ago as the start of this thread, and it happened now with me, so I thought it was important to share with the colleagues here, as it seems to be an ongoing issue.

Maria, no problem, better safe than sorry.

Hali, I just responded to an inquiry (maybe it was you?) via email:

"Files do not go online immediately after being approved - a scheduled script processes them and puts them online as fast as our hardware resources allow. Currently it takes about 2 minutes per photo to do all the processing and uploading to our storage web servers - so depending on how many files are reviewed in a day, there could be a delay of minutes hours or even days before the photos go online. Currently there are a few hundred ahead of yours."

We do a lot of post-processing: translation into 7 languages, color analysis, Freerange analysis, and then uploading to a datacenter in US and in Europe.. so it adds up timewise.

Me too, in the statistics area I have 108 approved but 106 in my art manager.  I mentioned it a few weeks ago, but other uploads since then are showing.  I don't even know what is missing to follow up.

Had $27 sale today.  Love sales at Zym.  It's like getting an EL every time.   ;D

Hm maybe we can keep the files as 'Pending' until they are actually live, it would reduce the confusion.  One of these things you don't think about when you're running the show, because it's clear to me how things are going - but people want to know exactly what's up with their content of course. :)

hey thx for the clarification.  and yes, i think it would be better to leave it as pending, to avoid confusion.
