Title: Latest newsletter from 123RF
Post by: RT on July 16, 2008, 12:06
Anybody get the latest email newsletter from 123RF

Good image of the woman looking at fruit.

Shame the image is from Moodboard which are part of Getty!!

Inmagine I could understand, or have Getty finally taken over every other stock site.

But what bothers me the most is why aren't any of my images in the lightbox thats linked to the newsletter.
(Please don't answer this unless it's along the lines of 'I couldn't believe it either'  :D )

I suppose those in charge of the newsletter were quite impressed with the image ;)

Thanks for viewing the newsletter in all its glory!  ;D how many of you view newsletters from agencies?

Moodboard isn't part of Getty. The guy who started it sold off Digital Vision to Getty, but Moodboard's independent.

Your point is still valid though in that I don't see anything positive in sending out a newsletter with another agency's images. It screams "I don't have anything good so I had to buy this" which isn't really what you'd want to be saying.

Moodboard also partnered with Fotolia, a direct competitor for 123rf

And so guess where you can buy the image that 123rf is featuring in its July newsletter:

http://us.fotolia.com/id/7139360

I think the editors should practice what software companies call eating your own dog food. Only images they sell should be in their newsletters. Why advertise Fotolia?

Yes, but IS and Getty are the same ownership. Fotolia and Inmagine have no business connection whatever; Fotolia and 123rf are direct competitors.

How would it be if Getty ran ads with Corbis photos and Shutterstock ran ads with iStock images? That's what this is equivalent to.

Hi all,

I guess there must be somekind of misunderstanding, we've had moodboard with us for quite sometime now.

Is there a problem?
