Sales have started to increase as promised. However, lots more sub sales. Have others found this? Are they pushing sub packages and do all we are going to see is more sub sales?

If so its time to only upload minimum resolution

Jan-Mar 2010    30% subs (on very few sales)
Jan-Mar 2011    50% subs, DLs 6x higher, revenue 16% higher
Jan-Mar 2012    50% subs, DLs 2.8x higher than 2011, revenue 450% higher

Lifetime sales for me at 123 subs are 49%.  Still get regular DLs at larger sizes and the occasional EL so not sure whether downsizing would be a good idea.

Actually, I had some really lucrative EL and OD sales there in March.  Enough to push me to a BME by almost 50% over last BME.

There is always going to be a demand for subs from volume buyers.  I don't like the sub model, but it's here to stay and impossible to avoid if you are serious about making money in microstock.

But as for 123RF at the moment trending toward subs, no, I am seeing the opposite trend.

For me, subs are typically just around one third of my total.

That breakdown has not fluctuated over the past few months or years.

Today, in fact, subs are just one quarter, and I even have an EL today.  Could be a BDE.  I guess 123RF buyers haven't heard that it's April and they're supposed to slow down their buying.  Sshhh!  Don't tell them!

Slow april didn't seem to affect my income on 123RF and FT, all others were down.
Also less subs then last month, faster reviews lately and rejections are still rare.
Still one of my favorite agencies!

I cannot understand why every second month is 10 times lower than that before.
meaning, sales jump by a factor 10.

I have had months where I began to think it was worth while.
And then next month, down to almost nothing.
What is going on?

With nearly all threads on sales always ending/starting up with the same question, I think Leaf should put a standard reply button for us in. If you press it it auto inserts the following wording:

"Unless most contributors experience the same (either unusual drop or rise in sales), their is NOTHING going on at the site! It is your portfolio!

1. Either it is seasonally better situated for certain seasons than others.
2. It might be quite small, making it very vulnerable and unpredictable on when and how many you sell and offers less of a range of choices to buyers.
3. You were just lucky one month and not that unlucky the next, or vice versa.
4. You have constant bad sales because your port sucks.
5. You added a lot of images a while ago and they became more searchable on the agency's search engine only recently (good sales).
6. You have a high/low rank at the agency."

Auto text 2 if is not only you:

"1. The site's marketing influenced recent sales.
2. Bad publicity influenced the site's sales.
3. Seasonal influences on overall sales in the industry.
4. Incidental good/bad month at the site.
5. Price changes influencing sales
6. Contributors withdrawing due to commission policy changes.
7. Increase in contributors due to good sales reports.

Please select one above"

OR

Auto text button 3:

"You just have nothing better to do than sit and complain about everything because you are a naturally born pain in the bud. "  ;)

Sales have started to increase as promised.

Why would anybody believe a promise like that? What it amounts to is a declaration that in the past they haven't bothered trying to sell our work but in future they are going to make the effort.

Only they didn't really mean to say that, what they meant was "Calm down, don't get mad, everything will be all right, just take the stress pill" and then they left you to get used to the idea that next year your earnings will be cut.

Where are they suddenly going to get all the extra sales from if they haven't been able to get them in previous years?

You could click the "more" button right at the bottom too. Takes you to the same place.

what's the size of your portfolio?  if you're making less than $100 per month then sales are likely to be spikily random - you need to look at 3-6 month averages and compare them to previous years before making any conclusions

i plot a 6 month moving average of current sales, along with comaprisons to 3 mo and 6 mo comparisons to the previous year; as long as all of these are positive, i don't worry about short term spikes - it's just the predictable random fluctuations of a small sample set

I left 123 about a year ago... it made a little dent in my income, nothing to worry about.  A site thtat makes me between 2-5 % is nothing to worry about.
A site that constantly pushes yuri and andres images in front of mine...
A site that doesn't know the difference between underexposure and low key,
A site that doesn't know the difference between high key and over exposure
A site that deliberately refuses good food/product shots
A site that has big attitude .?................. and doesn't make if for contributors..........?..................

That's not exactly the site i'm searching for.... nor would expect to perform for me.

I make 50 fold on SS... 123 jump... to the bottom.

Patrick.

ps : just want to make clear the search position makes it all... and...... does the site (admins) like your pictures.
