Great news - but I'm still $35 short  :(

Freedom

That's great to know! I just had one payout this month. I need a couple of more dollars to reach my next one.

lagereek

Whatever, its nice to know there are some agencies doing something for its members.

Good to hear that. And while they're at it, how about some news like "you'll get your funds cleared sooner than 2 months since the sale"? I have uncleared funds since FEBRUARY!!

fritz

My Balance carried forward:$322.14
Cleared balance:$22.00
I have a question: On 20 September 2011 had sale $102.80 which is not cleared.
I know it takes 45 days to be cleared but it's two months by now. Can someone explain the payment process.
Thanks

There is no set number of days for a payment to be cleared. I know in some cases it's definitely 90 days - I guess it depends what terms the buyers have negotiated with Alamy.
After the first of the month after 90 days, you could take it up with Support.
It really is a long game. I just went to have a look at my account: I've got one uncleared from 27th July! I guess I should put it in my diary to chase up on 1st Dec!

Great.  That gives me a payout next month.  I have some sales that have been waiting since last August to be cleared.  I was wondering the same thing about just how long it took to clear a purchase.

All of mine from August were cleared today.

I've had 100 photos there for several months, and have gotten just 20 zooms and zero sales.  Most of these images sell on microstock now and then, some frequently.   If this is a 'long' game, I may not live long enough.

It depends on when Alamy's accounts department get their hands on the cash, which can take months or years (or sometimes be never) with bad customers.

I read on Alamy's forum that folks agree average sales per year equal about one sale per 100 photos online.  My numbers agree, so you better get crackin' and upload more if you want to see sales!   ;)

Plus word there is that pics that sell there aren't the sort that sell on the micros. (Maybe people do a broad search and find your Alamy images cheaper on the micros.)

But waiting for cleared balance is killing me...

Karimala

...but the check size when all those payments come in at once is pretty darn sweet!  My family will be having a very nice Christmas this year thanks to everyone paying their bills in November.   ;D

175 is better, but I wish they would lower it to 100, like many of the top microstocksites.

Agreed.  I am happy they lowered it, but not enough for me to get a payout on Dec.1.

I remember waiting as long as 7 months for clearing of some payments.
On the other hand on of the recent purchases was cleared in 3 weeks.

I think most of my sales never showed in zooms list.
Go figure...

Maybe I'm lucky 12 and 13  December 18 downloads which is unusual number of downloads for Alamy having only 1738 files  but the question remain when the purchase will be cleared.

For my handful of sales, including first Distributor sale late October, funds have averaged around 45 days to clear, based on memory.  (Started this year with under 100 files, now have around 400.)
My zooms/sales don't seem to be much related.

Waiting, waiting...  :-\

14 July 2011 Sale = still waiting.

Always the same answer. It's not how many photos, it's what they are. I have just under 2000 (with stacks more sitting here to upload) about 98% racing and cars. They don't sell the same as travel and landmarks. Someone with 100 really good photos of more popular subjects will beat me, every day.

Yes, views, zooms, whatever, aren't that important. Just tracking. I have sales, more than one, with no views and no zooms. So what does that mean. Someone who's not part of the tracking data, bought those images. It's just numbers, I agree they don't mean much.

Yes, I like $175, I don't know why they pulled that number out of the air. I could understand back when they wrote checks, but now with PayPal they could just drop a payment on us monthly or at $100 without anything complicated? Only good news is, now the last sales will be 2012 income. I wish Alamy had a less, of an honor system and collected at the time of download!

Overall, no complains, I like the sales and a place for my Editorial shots that are sold at a fair commission and fair price.

Reply to my query from my sale from 27th July, still waiting:

"This sale was made through one of our distributors.  Distributors have
longer payment periods than our normal customers. The reason for this is
that they have to receive payment from their clients, and then pass on
payment to us, meaning that there is an extra step in the process.

It is not unusual for distribution sales to take up to 120 days to
appear in your account, however our  Billing team will have invoiced the
client as quickly as possible and will be chasing this if the time
period is exceeded."
