Guys, I passed QC on Alamy. I opened account in febryary, but I never tried to submit my 4 images. I thought they are not good enough. Yesterday I did it and today I am at Alamy :) But I am totally stucked to licences and keywording system :D I hope I will manage.

Congrats, Whitechild.  I also only recently uploaded my four test images.

Read the hints given by Racephoto here, they are very useful:

Congrats to both of you.  Racephoto had some good advice in the thread posted above.

I keyword in Either Lightroom or Expression media and the keywords get carried over, just have to move them to the two other catagories once they are accepted.  The process is a bit slow, but not to difficult as you can drag the keywords from the comprehensive box to the other two boxes.  The real drag is all of the clicks for the other parts of the panel.

Remember a huge number of keywords can harm your rating if they are not completely relevant.  I have a small collection and I rekwyworded to only about 10-16 per image and after the last Alamy Rank came out I jumped significantly (about 4 pages with 102 per page) in the bhz ranking.  Good thing is you start in the middle of the ranking as a new contributor.

I contribute to a number of sites that have higher rejection rates than Alamy but I also feel the adrenaline rush when I get a QC e-mai. It is like you've passed a major test every time, like being in school again and waiting for your test results. I love Alamy though haven't earned a penny yet there.

You'd be happy with Flickr then  ;)

Or promoting your images on Instagram as a sales tactic.  :o

:D People I have been contributing to Alamy for three months. Shall my lack of earnings not discourage anyone from contributing there. Hey they are friendly, their QC is pretty fair. It is the best place, and only for me, where to upload "editorial" type pictures. No hassle with captions, explanations why its news worthy, just upload and declare that you don't have the proper releases. A breeze.

Alamy is a great place to submit photos to if you don't want any sales.

I think you are not submitting much photos there because you think there is no sale to ne made. Many people submit there 200 photos and stop because there is no sale coming and more complicated keyword system. You need to submit alt least thousands and have patience. Sales will drop in regulary. Alamy is only for the ones that take this system seriously. There are plenty of people reporting sales there. They have almost 70 million photos. People are not submitting 70 millions just for fun. It means it is worth it. Like i daid last month only on the forum some people reported 1000k nett sales. 1 sale can make up for sales of 5 microstock agencies in one month. Some companies are whilling to spend such money to have not a photo that is downloaded by hundreds of people on micros. Alamy creates good sales for many. And that is a fact. Just because you dont have success there it isnot right to make such statement. I am not a big earner on istock but i will not advice everyone saying there is no success possible.

I started uploading to Alamy in February 2014 when I cancelled my exclusive contract with iStock.  I uploaded about a hundred images but quickly became disillusioned due to the rather cumbersome upload process and the lack of sales.  I stopped uploading and considered Alamy a waste of time.

Then, in December, my first sale popped up.  $38 gross, $19 for me.  Then in January another sale.  Then on March 1st another sale.

So, as Sharpshot pointed out earlier (or in a different thread) Alamy appears to be a case of being patient.  And I think it pays to learn the upload process and keep keywords very accurate and to a minimum.  It appears that sales do eventually materialise.

Of course I've started uploading again, making sure I'm being very accurate with essential keywords etc.

Naturally I don't know if my sales will continue to grow, but it seems that those who can be patient and professional with content and keywording etc will eventually get rewards from Alamy.
