I was really surprised when I saw 60 novel use sales listed today! It must be stats for last month or two, but it was nice to see these long detailed list! ;D

I got 42 novel use sales.  It was a surprise since most of them were $1 sales, of which I got .50.

I am opted in to everything at Alamy, and don't have an objection to selling for "novel use" but I am honestly shocked there are images selling on Alamy for $1.

Anybody who thinks there is much difference between Alamy and the micros anymore hasn't seen the Novel Use license.

One thing that concerns me - discussed here on the Alamy forum - is the idea that average sale price is a factor in search ranking and people are finding their search rank drop as a result of getting Novel Use sales.

Thanks Lisa for that link. That doesn't sound good. In that case my ranking just dropped by a zillion.
Let's hope that the novel use sales don't count in this ranking system.

Each for 1$, 0.5$ is mine, I guess.

Same here  - didn't actually count them, 2 novel use for $5 each, 60-70 at 1$.

Very odd. I have two pseudonym's, one of photo's, one of illustrations. The photo's sold around 10, the illustrations the other 60.

The Alamy forums should be fun this evening.

That's odd. I sold about 30 novel use and one image for 67$ today. in the novel use images, about 6 images account for all the sales (one image sold over 10 times). There must be multiple customers involved.

I haven't had any NU sale reported, until now but if the average sale price is affecting AR it's something very worrying. And that might explain why my most successful pseudo had an inexplicable drop sometime ago since I had several $15 sales. Not good...

The worst part about those values, is the license associated with them. None of the micro licenses allow for so much even with all the EL's. And alamy is licensing images for $1 that allow everything except resale.

Just out of curiosity, were the novel use sales RF files, or RM as well?

Since Alamy is selling at micro prices, it's about time they bring their ranching up to date and introduce a micro-like payout system instead of their dinosaur 250.-U$ minimum antiquated mailing checks system. Making things easier for buyers should go hand in hand with benefits for contributors.

That's not good at all!  If the NU license is virtually unlimited then I will have to opt out.

I realize cheapo images is a new area for Alamy, but they have to protect their sellers better than that if they expect us to participate in their offerings.

12 novel uses.  11 at $1.00 (.50 for me) and 1 at $9.98 ($5.00 of me).

Looks like both with some different license limitations.

Wow I got 2 today also out of 73 images that have been sitting on there since 2006. I have only sold one TL a long time ago then 1 novel almost a year ago then these 2 today. I don't even check that site. You don't think it's a computer glitch do you? I mean 2 raw hamburger patties for novel use??? What is it for the republishing  of the Texas Chainsaw massacre?

Now I'm a total $1.00 richer!!

Alamy just confirmed that, despite excluding sales from NU from the AR calculation, they do in fact take into consideration the average sale price as one of the AR calculation criteria.

http://www.alamy.com/forums/default.aspx?g=posts&m=92673&

Considering that they are giving +80% discounts in many sales, without the chance for us to decline them, I think this is a serious issue and may affect seriously future hundreds of dollars sales because of a drop in the AR.

I got a sale for $5.96 today and it WASN'T novel use.  That makes it officially my lowest regular sale on Alamy ever :(

I had a load of NU sales as well - surprisingly despite being opted-out since April 2009 :O

I contacted member services and they said that my sales (that were reported yesterday) occurred before April 2009.

That is just weird.

I also have several sales in low values like those that aren't NU. And that might explain the huge drop I had in one of my most successful pseudonyms, where I had a "control" image dropping from the second line of the first page , to the middle of the sixth page!

The whole pseudonym is almost dead now.

Well... it is pretty bad... I am opting out right now!

[ADDED] Well... It seems only April is month when you can opt-out... So, one year more to look at NU sales :-(

Really? When did they do another Rerank, since the last one was about six months ago and the next one isn't due until June?

In fact the last rerank was made in March. At the moment they are reranking with a 3 month difference (more or less) which was their announced goal when they launched Alamy Rank.
