Whether this is good news for Alamy contributors, bad news, or will make no difference we will have to wait and see.

Interesting. This could bring more traffic to the platform (good). In general, editorial and commercial images don't compete with one another much, so if there's extra competition, it would probably be for Alamy's other editorial content.

This quote left me wondering just what the new objectives are...

"As part of this evolution, there are proposals to reorganise the business in line with Alamys new strategic objectives"

This is the new managing director's LinkedIn page. She seems to be from the editorial side of the business...

Anything is better than what's going on.

Seeing microstock prices but midstock volumes for the past 4 months.

Not sure if less volume (depending on whether 'our' work is in direct competition with the PA offerings) at the same prices is going to be 'better'. Whether more buyers will come to the site and that will benefit us remains to be seen.

I agree, sales aren't improving, and prices are getting very low: though I see some people still reporting $$$ sales (maybe gross?).

I'm sure there will be some very "exciting news" before too long  :(

Good or not for us, is relative. Last couple years Alamy has been nothing for me. Sure competition for Editorial, probably less for other.

Now about PA, they just bought the agency and have an outlet with established buyers and a major Internet market presence, that they can sell their owned materials, images, Etc. This is a good move for their side. I see this more as opening up to more buyers.

Best I could say is, maybe the merging will bring more of the old established AP buyers to see our work?
