Me too sales on Alamy seem to have the gestation period of an elephant ..getting a few zooms so optimistic (no so much what I might earn though)

Very nice for RF is that what you got or did they knock their 50% off

Yup, that's gross, so half of that goes into my pocket.

If anybody is curious which was the image :)

Any updates? Are you selling much RF editorial on Alamy? I have a fair amount of editorial on the micros and am thinking about uploading them RF editorial to Alamy but want to make sure it's worth the effort. Kind of annoying that you have to go and designate them as editorial after uploading. Are your RF editorial sales there comparable to regular RF or RM sales?

Alamy is so unpredictable.
I look at Alamy like buying multiple lottery tickets...most of the time the ticket will be worthless but soon (?) enough you'll find a ticket that would be worth a lot...then back to same old waiting and frustration. Sales on there for me have ranged from $5 to $250 (gross).
Alamy is editorially-based so it makes sense to upload all your editorials on there.
Not much difference between RF and RM in terms of sale values on there. The future of stock is RF in any case since that's what most buyers prefer (old-timers on the Alamy forum would disagree though as many refuse to license as RF).

Yes, always very variable at Alamy. I guess the only way to know for sure is to upload a few hundred and wait six months or a year to see what happens - I was just wondering if others had been getting sales of editorial since that is new. My last couple of batches there passed QC in a few hours (all regular RF) so I guess it won't take long to test if I submit some editorial. Will give it a try and see how it goes.

I've had RF editorial sales as well as normal RF sales.
One RF editorial sold within a week of being put up for sale.

I am with Alamy from July 2016 with 750 files, I had some small sales $5.33; $3.44 ... a piece but they all were distribution sales, meaning that A & distributor get 70% and 30% (&1.5) is my cut.
This month I got my first bigger sale, $28.41 sold by A, 50%-50% cut.
What I don't like is that you have to wait so much for the payment (from buyer). I have files downloaded in May and still not payed for.

Yea that's annoying.
Alamy bend over backwards to please their clients, I suppose that's how they remain competitive.

Its because Alamy provide extended credit terms to certain clients like newspapers and magazines.
That is normal in the world of industry and commerce.

How much is this credit extended? Is there a timeframe (limit) for payment with these clients?

I send Alamy a polite enquiry after six months, if it hasn't been cleared.
Distributor sales in particular can take a long time to clear, if the client has a timeframe with the distributor, and the distributor has a timeframe with Alamy.

I checked with them a year ago and was advised that companies like the BBC and newspapers get 3 month payment terms
Though I have one used by Conde Nast magazine that been hanging round for 6 months :(

Thanks for the info - I appreciate it. I'm starting to put my RF editorial images there and will hope for the best. And congratulations on your sales!

Thank you ShadySue and Sammy for your answer.
Six month you say. For my image downloaded in May, this is the 7th month. I'll wait till the end of the month and then I think I should contact Alamy.
Thanks again.

I must say that Alamy have the best customer service I've encountered. They'll help you out.

I should have explained that I wait six months if a file has been notified but not paid.
If there's an in-use which hasn't shown up, I email much sooner than that. A probable abuse (like a pic in an apparently-reputable US newspaper with an Alamy watermark, which hadn't been reported), I report immediately.

Would you please tell me what does it mean when a file is notified? Sorry, I am still not used to A unique wording and navigation. Is that something I can check?
The file mentioned is on other agencies too, it has many downloads showing up on sites in all languages, from Spanish to Chinese (including Pinterest), so there is no way to know where was it downloaded from.

From your dashboard, check 'Sales History' and that lets you know when the buyer notified Alamy of a sale.
From your dashboard, check 'Account Balance' and you can see whether a sale has been paid or not. That's where the big gap can come about. (Minimum 45 days, apparently)
However, if you don't know that the image was taken from Alamy, they won't be able to help you. My files there are all exclusive to Alamy (though they don't have to be, so long as RM files there would be RM elsewhere).

I think you have it and yes unpredictable and I can't tell the difference between before and now for RM and RF Editorial. Now is the same as my first year, in dollars, but nothing changed. I made more per image, now I make less and more sales, sale income. I'll say, the important part, money in the bank, hasn't been any different from six years ago.

I checked those pages. All sales have a date in the "Date purchased" column, if that is what I should look for.
As you said, it doesn't matter if I don't know who sold the file. I will contact A in a few days though.
Thanks again.

They do not have big sales but they are serious and have good support. They are very respectful!
