What is your workflow for alamy.

Does it differ to the microstocks (other than the upsize at the end).

I have finally got around to shottig raw and am thinking of trying alamy.

Edit: what do you use to upsize.  I currently only have Elements but I dont think they accept teh upsizing that is done in this program 9only v7 and CS).  Is there any good freeware?  I dont want to invest incase I dont get accepted and even if I do, until I get sales.

I have only submitted my QC CD of ten images so far but it was accepted on my first try. For those who worry about their equipment and software I did it with a Pentax *ist DS (6.1 mp) and elements 3.0. in my very limited experience this is what i did. Shot in RAW, did PP for white balance and exposure in RAW. Be careful as elements, at least mine, had a default sharpeniing in RAW at 25%..I reset it to zero. I then converted to TIFF, PP with levels and enlarged to actual pixels..there I cloned out dust, etc. If needed I would then use neat image. Then I resized the images and burnt the CD.   Except for the resizing this is my standard workflow for all pics.  I will sharpen as needed ( but not in RAW) except for Alamay which states zero sharpening
So those with higher mp cameras and better software should have an even easier time. Because my camera is only 6.1 I used only images that required no cropping so I had as big a file as possible to start with.

I use bascially the same work flow for micros and alamy, except for the upsizing for alamy.. oh yeah, and no sharpening or noise reduction for alamy either.  No cloning out of brand names either because everything I submit to Alamy is Rights managed.

Elements should have bicubic as an option. Just increase by 10% increments (stair interpolation) until you hit your desired size and you'll get the same results as Genuine Fractals and other stand alone interpolation software.

I'm new to stock photography.  Would you mind explaining why you can use brand names with rights managed?  Thanks.

well you could technically have brand names in royalty free images as well.  The thing that matters is that the image is licensed for editorial use only.  Shutterstock has the option of having editorial images.  With editorial images you don't need a model release either.

Anyhow back to alamy... if you want to upload editorial images to alamy they require that you list them as Rights Managed.

Do you upsize before or after doing minor tweaking (levels, saturation etc).  I would have though before as tweaking can introduce artifacts which you wouldnt want to be interperlated.
