I decided to stop selling my images via the micro sites and am going to upload the micro images to Alamy and PhotoShelter and delete the images from micro as they hopefully get accepted.  Therefore I wrote to BigStock asking them to delete my account and telling them I knew I would have to forfeit the $15 of earnings I have.  Since it would presumably take only one mouse click to do so I didn't expect they would refuse.

They responded that I would have to wait 90 days but that they could delete photos that had been there for 90 days individually. This sounds like way more work than deleting the account (plus gives me the possibility of hitting the $30 payout.  Frankly, I was rather surprised (and disappointed).  Certainly the $15 and whatever they have earned on my downloads should more than cover the fee for reviewers having gone over my relatively meager 100 images.

I did write back to please bump the request up to a supervisor for consideration and to please delete those that were 90 days...but no response yet (though it hasn't been very long)

Any ideas as to how to get the account deleted faster?

LOL. I also have 15$ there and also asked to closing my account. I have to wait 3 months, but I have no clue about how to mess whit them until they close the account.

Take care that your images are deleted after the closing, it's been 5 days that I have closed my account whit Fotolia and most of my images are still online. If there's any sales while my account is closed...

When you upload any image to Bigstockphoto, you have to check the box stating that the images will be online for at least 90 days. You can't blame them for following their own policy that you accepted. If they do it for you, then they have to do it for everyone, and that would defeat the purpose of it being there in the first place.

I doubt there is anything you can do.

True...but I guess I can insist that they delete the ones that have been there for 90 days as they 'come due'.  I have noticed, however, in other posts that people HAVE gotten them to delete individual photos before 90 days upon request.

i have to agree with Kngkyle.
you chose the agreement, so wait 90 days.
anything less would be entirely up to BigStock perogative.

i am doing th same , but what i do is get them approved, but don't put them live until the images are free of microstock.
another thing, i don't submit anything sold on microstock
to them, that would be unfair to future buyers of macros.

you do not want a buyer to find out they paid so much more for an image you gave away last month on micro, do you? 8)

To be safe, why don't you upload only after you know FT has taken them out of their portfolio? Sometimes, they just say UNAVAILABLE or something like that, so effectively, no one can buy them .

good to know.
so, just wondering, is BigStock the only one that does not allow deletion before 30 days?
it would be nice to know, so we don't submit any images that may need
to be deleted quickly like in this case.

i hear IC  image catalog, also does not allow deletion, or does not have a delete button.
is this true? :o

It is actually 90 days not 30. Crestock has no self deletion.  Supposedly the administration will do it for you...I asked FRiday and we will see how long it takes.  Dreamstime has some rather convoluted rules as to how many can be deleted and when, but does let you do it yourself.  I don't know what happens if you step over their deletion limit.

The fact that you have to check the 90 box to upload means you agree to terms. While it will be a bit of pain to wait it out I suspect there is no choice.

They said that to me once. What I discovered is that they didn't delete a single photo (when there were plenty beyond 90 days) when I went back to check on it in a year. I'd keep a close eye on it.

Well, I do not know. Couple of days ago I asked for deletion of one file and it was done within 24 hours. They didn't have to do it - I just asked very politely - and it happened almost immediately.  My respect for BigStock jumped up quite a bit.

BigStock is fast with their deletion, if you passed the 90 day agreement.
All you need is contact them and within 48 hours of their reply you find your photos gone. Usually, it is within 12 hours they reply to me.
