Title: My Bigstock Paypal address hacked and PP email changed!
Post by: HughStoneIan on May 07, 2017, 21:15
Just a notice that my BS paypal address was changed by someone besides me. No one else locally has access to my computer, so my account was obviously hacked online. Bigstock was good enough to send me a change-of-account email notice, which alerted me. You may want to check your micro acct's, change p/words, etc.

One other note: I had not yet reached the payout threshold, so no money was able to be taken. But payout will be available soon, so the thief was just waiting like a hawk to steal.

Happened to me too. I contacted bigstock through the email alert they sent, and had to go through a bunch of different processes. Account currently temporarily suspended while Bigstock reviews a photo of me carrying my passport to verify. Very inconvenient. IMO there should be a more secure procedure when changing the payment email, e.g. password verification.

That's the good thing about Bigstock. It's really safe from these sort of attacks since it basically *never* reaches payout!

The same thing happened to me on DP once, except I had plenty for a payout and someone immediately made a payout request.  The interesting thing was that they didn't request all of the money, only part of it.  It was a nuisance but easily straightened out at least.  Good advice about reading those e-mails!

Ha, ha!  The joke's on the thief.  Bigstock doesn't earn enough money for contributors to be worth stealing from!   8)

One of the reasons I always withdraw my money as soon as I reach payout I don't have much confidence in the security of any of these sites......Not sure banks are that much better though :-)

Well, BS worked on my case and it appeared they had gotten it all straightened out. They suspended my account temporarily, I cleaned up everything I could on my system, cleared cache & cookies, changed passwords, upped some security settings, changed to a different browser, etc. Everything appeared good, then today, voila!, my payout address was changed again!  Wonder if it's on Bigstock's end and not mine. Who knows. I've contacted them again and waiting to hear back. Someone's determined to get some dining-out cash!

Another reason to have nothing to do with these companies.  I already had plenty.

Do you use any third party software to track sales?
Do you have up to date antivirus installed?

Maybe you have a "rat" on your computer, a compex kind of virus who send info remotely... you can format harddrive and reinstall OS.

I owe a lot of kudos to the Bigstock tech-support team as they have really stuck with this case and put a good amount of time into helping resolve it. They've been super-prompt in communicating with me, giving status updates, etc.  I don't envy their job, with the massive amount of hacking going on all over the world and more so as technology advances. I was fairly security-conscious before, but I'll be even more so after this!
Anyway, I wanted to give a public "Thanks" to the tech guys over there. Great job!

Also happened to me on BS. It's been over a week since I sent them a photo of me and my passport...still waiting to hear back. Slightly annoying that apparently my images are not available for sale while this is going on...not a lot of money lost but probably would have bought a couple of coffees.

Same here. Payout address changed by someone. I had enough cash for payout, so i'm curious what next. Making enough cash for payout at bigstock takes 4-5 monts for me :(

I think they don't send money right away, but after some time, so i think there's a hope for me...

I don't have any pirate software, i don't visit any strange sites... So i think the problem is somewhere at bigstock

And one more thing

I've received a mail, probably fake because it was from a strange address ([email protected]), and veryn long link hidden under www.bigstockphoto.com (http://www.bigstockphoto.com). Anyway at start i thought it's real, and they are doing what they have to do, and i let it go. But it was send 15 minutes before changing my paypal address. So it should be suspended before changing paypal address. So i tried to login and... my account is'nt suspended. Here is the mail:
"Hi Michal,

Your account to prevent cyber attacks has been suspended for 12 days.

Your information will be zero at this time and after the designated time will return to normal operation.
have any questions, just reply to this email.

Cheers,
The Bigstock Team"

Hope this will help somebody

I'm sure it's fake.  The poor English of their message is another red flag.  "Your information will be zero" is not something any native speaker of English would write.

I agree, definitely fake.

In my case, it took 3 weeks for my account to be unsuspended and my images put back online. No money was lost (except for what I might have earned in those 3 weeks).

Apparently the hackers have found a way to make Bigstock a source of easy money. They've taken time to familiarize themselves with BS' payment procedures---maybe they are or were members there, perhaps even previously employed by them.
Well, either way, harden your passwords, change them frequently, keep your system updated, always be diligent.
