Hey there!

My strap gave up today, resulting in my Nikkor 80-200 2.8 ED hit the asphalt lens first, pushed by an D300 with batterypack.  Pretty hard...

Im glad I had a heavy UV filter on.  But would have been even happier if the sun-cap had been on.

I cleaned off the broken glass and tried unscrewing the filter, without success cause the lens was squeezed slightly oval :-\
It seemed to work though for awhile, till I tried a closeup zoom where it jammed >:(.   I used it manually for a few hours and tried the AF again.    IT WORKED!!, the whole way :D     That´s quality...

And check your old strap.    I had a neoprene one with small fake leather pieces that just gave up.  I could easily rip the ok looking side off when I tried.   Don´t use fake materials .  And do a pressure test now and then...

wow, sorry to hear that. At least you where lucky at the end.

WOW!! That's scary!  :o

I just gave my strap a good tug to test it.  It held ;D

I remember my insurance agent told me I was able to get a new camera If I dropped it on the floor. I'm pretty sure they will investigate how this happened, but it's pretty neat.

But I had to get a 50$ a year extra insurance for that. This way I'm covered for house fire flood theft etc. But also from theft outside on the street, when I'm on trip and drop it on the floor accidentally. All that up to 10 000$ of equipment

I got an 3 years "throw it in the wall and get a new one" insurance on the camerahouse.  That wasn´t even scratched :-X

Insurance agents often say it like that. They know that 99% is honest, so it doesn´t matter.
