Been clinging to a Canon 30D for a few months now, swiped cheaply in a second hand buy. Feeling limited with the 8MP but wondering if anyone has had any experience using it for macro work (& with what lenses)?

100MM Macro lens from Canon, the old one is sharp as you can find with any lens. Good for everything else too.

Others may feel differently but there's nothing wrong with 8MP DSLR cameras. They are not small. What's most important is the size of the sensor, not the number of pixels. That's why a P&S with a sensor that's 1/6th the size of an APS-C can have 12MP and will look terrible, compared to the nice old 8MP image from a 20D or 30D.

Have Fun!
