Congrats, Peter!

I want to pre-order an 5d mark II too... These new models have so low noise and good picture quality  that for stock photography we need to buy the best of the best lenses...

Congrats. But if I was in the market for the 50D I would be going to the dark side and getting the D90

if i was getting a 50D i wouldn't be getting it on ebay.  thats just my preference, too many risks for a camera that new and for an online auction house riddled with problems (and getting worse)

for some reason I was not able to pay via paypal for my camrera, PP gave me this explanation:

Quote
Dear <Peter>,

Thank you for contacting PayPal.

<Peter>, I apologize for any inconvenience it has caused you. I understand you want to complete the payment but unable to. Let me assist you.

Upon careful review of you PayPal Account I see that it is because of PayPal's Security System that is not letting you complete the payment.
In fact you have unlimited sending limit for you were able to verify your PayPal account.

To provide one of the safest online payment services, PayPal reviews every transaction before it is approved, and occasionally, we must limit funding options or decline a payment. These decisions consider every aspect of the transaction, including the merchant's settings and PayPal's statistical models. From time to time, these complex security measures may affect some accounts in good standing. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Note: I hope you understand that as much as I want the payment to push through I cannot. Unfortunately I cannot override the system. What I would suggest is to try it on a later time or you may use other payment method outside PayPal. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again.

We appreciate your patience and understanding regarding this matter, and wish you continued success on PayPal.

Sincerely,
Jho
PayPal, an eBay Company

So I ordered the EOS 50D from a local store at price 1800$, and I expect it in 3-7 days. It is a little more expensive, but I have waranty near my place, and not gambling with custom fees.

I ordered from ebay this wireless shutter release, and one more battery :D

I will do that tomorow. :)

ISO steps are: 100, 125, 160, 200, 250, 320, 400, 500, 640, 800, 1000, 1250, 1600, 2000, 2500, 3200, hi-iso 6400, hi-iso 12800.

which is very cool!

LCD has 960.000 pixels (comparing to old 40D and others with only 240.000 pixels) so image is incredibly sharp! Unbelieveable!

I am still reading user manual (270 pages lol) to learn all capabilities, bit it is very similar like my old 400D, but eos 400D (XTi) is a toy comparing to this 50D! (I imagine what machine must be 5D!).

I love this camera so much, I would sleep with it, but I am afraid it can drop off the bed at night and break :D

I know all the specs of 50d. As it will be my next camera if the results are as good as expected.

Daylight would be interesting. In low-light condition, in heavy shadow, somewhere in the house or in a public place, where we can see the level of detail at high iso. From what I saw in the test photos, there were shots at is 3200, perfectly acceptable. And if you downsample to 10-12 megapixels they would just look fantastic. Better than iso 400 on my 350d.

Not so fast! The camera in the bed and you on the floor...

Congrats getting the new camera, I can feel the vibration...

Yeah I would like to see sellable photos above 400 ISO. My 30D limit is 200 ... anything higher they knock them back.

That's strange. D300 has a brand new CMOS sensor which is doing so much better at high iso than the older CCD from D200. I have a handful of shots at ISO 800 accepted and selling and even one at ISO 1600. Of course, you must know WHAT to shoot at this sensitivity. Not everything goes.

Don't forget to check your firmware and make sure that you have 1.0.3 (or higher) otherwise you might experience an error 99 which will freeze you camera and the only solution is to charge your battery in full. It happend to me outside, so no pictures for the rest of the day.

After upgrading to 1.0.3 problem disappeared
