Title: Can Stock RPD down
Post by: ToniFlap on February 26, 2012, 05:51
Hi
I would like to raise an issue on canstock. My sales on this site are low, about $ 8-12 per month. But I have a RPD accumulated in the last two years of $ 1.26. But the RPD of the last 9 months (three quarters, which is like I watch my tendencies) is very low: $ 0.56, and decreasing (this February RPD: S0, 30).
The feeling is that there is increasing subscription sales, but all of $ 0.25, and Regular Distribution sales dwindling.

It is not very important. Can Stock is my seventh bank. But their commissions are fair, friendly team, good upload system. But I wonder if someone else happens, or just me. But three quarters is a good take.

thanks

Got a few payouts last year. I have a mixture of Vectors and JPG's, which can have a huge impact on the RPD from time to time. But yes, it seems like you are right. Year to date seems to be only a third on RPD from last year. Still early days though, will give it another 2 months or so before drawing any conclusion.

I find it pretty unpredictable, some months there are big sales on fotosearch, with good income, other months mostly smaller sales, but taken as a whole, it is a good stable site with excellent programming and very contributor friendly.

My RPDL there was $1.46 during 2010, $1.69 last year, was $3.63 last month and is $1.24 so far this month.  It's my #5 site for total earnings.  With easy uploading and fast reviews I can't complain.

RPD= Rate per download = how much money you make per download or sale
If you get your portfolio up to 200 to 250+ you might start to see some constant sales, dependent if people are interested in your type of images.

It is a pleasure. Santosa.  Why do you not try putting your images on a more Asian focused site like http://en.photokore.com/?refnum=5147 (http://en.photokore.com/?refnum=5147) (my refferal link)

They are still young, but I am wondering if your dragon drawings will not perhaps have a better market there?

Just a thought.

Regards

Charl

PS Sorry for going of topic!

Yes, unless you  are exclusive with Canstock. If you are, I would suggest that you contact Duncan to find out how you can become non exclusive. With so few items you should not be looking at exclusivity right now. You should be looking for as many sites as possible, to find out which site will suite your images best (your work is for a very specific market and will not sell well everywhere).

The people interested in drawings of dragons and those type of images are not as many as for other stock images (so it is a very specific or special market where your images will sell). So you must find the website where many people buy these sort of images and that you can only find out by submitting your images to many sites.

Thank you all for the answers. I see a trend is not unique. Glad to hear it. Can stock is a page just (hopefully not happen as 123rf).

Because they are removing your keywords and inserting their crappy ones that are irrelevant to the image causing sales losses!
