Am curious how others are doing on Canva recently? Its still a good earner, but has been declining since Nov. 2022, coincidentally(?) coinciding with their gen AI rollout.

April was the poorest earning month in > 3 years. Am only uploading occasionally so impossible to know if decline is from increased competition, stale content, ai competition, algorithmic changes, or all of the above.

Have also noticed that no new approved/published images are showing in the Element Creator Performance tab since the contributor analytics went live in Jan. despite being sorted by Most Recent, and showing up as single sales in Earnings tab. Maybe Danny Canva can weigh in on this?

They have cut payments per download by something like 10X. They now pay template creators out of same pool as us. Saw it coming but as they captured so much of the market had to upload or stop making a living. Really sucks.

Edit: Weird how much outrage there was about SS cutting minimum paymet by 3-4X while Canva cut payment by 10X+ with little or no pushback.

Canva has never had the broad base of contributors that SS has/had. SS had also been around a lot longer with an early history (for those of us contributing then; I was contributor number 249) of growth in royalties as well as income. Ever since SS went public in 2012, things were increasingly less contributor friendly, but the overall sense of betraying those who had made their success possible boiled over with 2020's "margin optimization" moves.

Also, Canva was never just a stock agency. They were a web based design tool where images were just a necessary part of the package. Their main goal was to corner that market with their freemium model and then earn from subscriptions to their web based tools.

Canva unilaterally closed my account (for public complaining) before the payment cuts; otherwise, I expect I'd have complained :)

Oh wow, didn't know that, or forgot about it! All these agencies really are cut from the same cloth.

I need to show this to anyone who laughs off the idea that we need to anonymous on this forum. So sorry that happened to you!

that's out of context - yes per image payments are down by 75% but  with their monthly distribution i now consistently get 3x what i used to make -- and that's about the same as i get from AS

To be clear I am talking about them dropping the payment per dl in the current scheme. Not the change from per dl to the monthly distribution. They have dropped the payment per dl by something like 10X in the current scheme. My earnings have something like halved dispite massively increasing dls.

I think another reason why not so many people complained is because Canva takes great lenghts in obscuring how little you make for an image sale. They just show you the few inidvidual sales and everything else is just reported as a bulk earning number a month later.
Also, they had this "We will double your income for a year (?)" deal to sweeten the commission cut, so many contributors were actually happy, because at first they earned the same or even more.

and i'm talking about total income and don't particularly care about individual sales when my monthly income triples. or are you notseeing a offsetting payment from the monthly distribution?

I don't know how to explain it more clearly.

The actual total payment I get has dropped massively as a product of the per dl payment within the scheme dropping. This is within the same scheme and after the end of double payments. I.e. not a result of the change to the new scheme or end of the double payments. I am talking about the big payment we get, not the individual dls.

It has been discussed in detail here several times before and lots of people have same same results.

sorry, it's still not clear - are you including the monthly distribution payment or just the total RPD of images?

LOL, not sure if you are trolling me.

I assume by "monthly distribution payment" you mean the one labelled as "Elements" The one that comes in as one big payment (sorry I have never heard it called that). Yes, this is what I'm talking about.

"Individual Sales" are a microscopic number of sales and percentage of total earnings and not really relevant to the discussion. They have very little impact on RPD since elements payments started.

EDIT: Just testing this link, as the other now seems to go to the Canva section rather than the thread I intended:

https://www.microstockgroup.com/canva/canva-now-pays-0-6-cent-pr-license!/

Weird, this one does the same for me. Anyway, you may need to click the thread about 5 down on the page.

Cascoly, no problem, apologies for the confusion

Canva earnings continue their slide, Dec. was back to 2016 level. Other forums reporting creator earnings are also down (anecdotally) on avg. @ 60%. Which is where mine currently are, after steadily growing yoy until their AI rollout in late 2022.

Curious if any other contributors are experiencing similar? Trying to determine if it's worth creating new content or not, as I hear rejections have also increased.

Similar experience for me: very high rejections (almost instantly within seconds) and earning steadily going down like 20-30%.

Down for me almost every month. I haven't tried new submissions in a while, but last time I did it was almost universal rejection with no obvious reasons.

As a company they seem to be doing fine, for contributors not so much.

Applies went down 2% and exports up 4%, income was actually up a little (~7%) as opposed to the previous months where everything was up except for income.

I do not understand how Canva accounting works.
