Hi guys,

I got this message to my portable harddrive all the time..-Do you want to scan and fix removable disk

it seems if you click yes, it will repair and sometimes some files will be disappear.. as I experienced it before.

if you just close the prompt and it can use as usual.

But what is the right way to deal with it? without the risk of losing any files?

I always reply NO.

Only Windows 7 seems to find such problems. My other PCs with Windows XP and Ubuntu don't care.
So if I need to check the portable drive, I guess I can do it myself with chkdsk.

If it was my drive I would backup the files and reformat the drive. I have 4 large drives and never run into that problem.

In my case, it happens all the times I connect a new drive (USB keys, external Hard Drives, etc) even when the drive is perfectly working.
