After sitting around and waiting for nearly 2 hours to download a bunch of raw images with my USB CF card reader I'm looking into getting a firewire card reader. Anyone use one and have any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

2 hours ... Ack!
I bought a Delkin brand Firewire CF reader years ago, just before USB 2.0 came out. My PC didn't have a Firewire port, so I had to buy that, too. I haven't had any problems with it at all.
Although USB 2.0 is theoretically much faster than Firewire, I've tested my USB 2.0 CF reader against it and found that they run at more-or-less the same speed for large (17 MP) RAW files. Buy whichever is cheaper.

Well, I'll be d@mned, you're right. I googled it and sure enough... :o Maybe I just need a new USB reader then as mine quite possibly isn't 2.0. Thanks Sharply.

I think I should get one too since I already got the port but card readers are a bit pricey for the time being so I 'll wait until they get cheaper. USB 2.0 does a good job too,so there is no rush for me.

Dont you transfer the images directly from the camera? The Eos utility software renames the images automatically as you want and creates folders for them

I just bought a Sandisk Extreme CF card reader that I use on a USB 2.0 connection. It downloads RAW files from my 5D at about one image per second. MUCH faster than the old reader I had.
