Thats fair enough. Although, again, to raise just subscription commissions would have to mean a relatively massive decrease in marketing and therefore probably causing a decrease in traffic and sales. Even with an increase in subscriptions commissions, worst case scenario would be that the gains from any commission increase would be lost due to a cutback in marketing. I get the feeling a couple of up and coming sites have possibly encountered this problem before, its simply doesn't seem sustainable. If I can make that clearer please let me know, I believe its important that the photographers understand where we're coming from.
The influence of the photographer upon a sites success should never be underestimated, but, currently, we're receiving many thousands of submissions per day. We're growing in that regard, almost as fast as we can maintain. With an inspection team of 15, we're being kept busy right now.
Sure, there are a lot of great portfolios that we'd really like to be able to promote and don't have yet. But, as long as we can make it as beneficial as possible for the photographer over an extended period of time, I hope any photographers with hesitations won't be able to resist any longer.
