Now if only they make more sales, they would be the perfect agency. How can you not love this agency though. What a lovely gesture...

I haven't uploaded there in ages as sales were so weak, but I'll be uploading this weekend - and I'd encourage anyone on twitter to retweet their announcement. They are at least trying to help, unlike the fat cat tossers at #Shutterstock...

I gotta say for me Dreamstime has been "hot" (relatively speaking, of course) of late.

THREE ELs in the last months at DT. They don't pay nearly as much as SS used to, just $13, but if enough of them come in it's a lot better than $.36 at SS with almost no ELs in sight.

And I get a lot of $2 sales at DT, also.

So overall, I've been happy to have a portfolio there. And I definitely will keep building it going forward.

Put it all over public social media, not just twitter. Also all private stock groups and circles. And recommend them to customers.

They are a small agency, so giving us more money must really hurt them, but they are doing it anyway to give us hope.

I still upload there even though sales have been low because DT has always been relatively fair. They purposefully cycle their search to ensure a fair shake for contributors. So for a week I get a lot of $2-5 dis and then that is followed by subs. I used to make $200 a month there but now I am * lucky to make $30. I wish they had better video pricing too.

Smart move by Dreamstime! They say they want to help during this pandemic trying times but I feel it is more a response to Shutterstock new earning structure. Hopefully more agencies will act fast to destabilize Shutterstock even more.

This is really a great move, but am I the only one who finds the timing incredibly....convenient? Shutterstock announced a cut of our royalities and two days later Dreamstime announces a rise in royalities? Does seem a bit like an attempt to gain some publicity and customers and attrackt as many contributors who are possibly leaving Shuttersock at the same time?
Either way, I am not looking a gift horse in the mouth (too closely) and am happy about the increase in rocalities either way, whatever the motives.

A lot of sympathy for Dreamstime here. My favorite underdog agency.
However sales are really slow compared to the bigger ones, at least they give you a respectable RPD with lots of 2$ or more commissions.

I hope they can survive and increase their market share.

Can you remember any agency announcing a raise in royalties recently? Because I don't.
Dreamstime is a small fish in a rough ocean, but at least one that's swimming against the stream, and actually showing some appreciation for their contributors.

Let it be an inspiration for others agencies.

I wish them a steady influx of high quality contributors and even more important, more market share with customers wanting to support sustainable business models.

I've kept uploading to DT, even though they were not a big earner for me.  The upload process was so easy, it was effortless to keep a portfolio.  Also, although they had a $100 threshold, I could cash out as soon as I reached the amount.  I did not have to wait for the threshold AND the end of the month.

In the last six months, DT exploded for me (relatively speaking).  Four of the last six months were my BME's.  Since I put a halt on uploading to SS, DT will be getting more exclusive photos.

Thank you DT for treating your contributors better.

I FTP'd some uploads up this afternoon and was very pleasantly surprised by

1. How much simpler they've made the submission process and

2. How quickly the images were approved (I'm guessing they had hoped this might be the result of their royalty increase)

I thought I should tweet about the new uploads to continue to raise awareness of their 10% royalty increase - and am now using #SupportDreamstime as well as #BoycottShutterstock in the tweets (along with the agency names)

https://twitter.com/joannsnover/status/1266509975955755008

I realize that their big problem is sales (lack thereof) but given how rare it is for an agency to reach out a helping hand to contributors these days, I think it's right to give them lots of public "thank you"s

They are linked closely though...thats why TV manufacturers launch sales campaigns before world cups....any decent agency is going to look how to react to Shutterstock's move. I fear some might see it as a signal to further drop commissions others to boost their image bank.

It is a good move that Dreamstime increase royalties, but as long as their sales are as low as they are for me, it doesn't really matter.

Oh come on people this is an agency which hardly sell anything at all and ....

Anyone who's been with Dreamstime a long time knows of their problems (I've been there since 2004) but that's not the point. The fact that they don't sell much or that me uploading to them again won't increase sales are also not the point.

Take the time to celebrate a small positive move in support of contributors in a sea of totally unhelpful or outright hostile agencies. As they say with presents, it's the though that counts :)

Edited to add that I received a download this morning for one of the files I uploaded yesterday - I understand it's not significant, but it feels like a lovely counterpart to Dreamstime's kind royalty increase starting tomorrow.

Oh come on people this is an agency which hardly sell anything at all and now because of the SS scam they are increasing royalties.!

In the last couple of months my sales on DT have gone from practically nothing to a very small bit of something. Similarly, their contributor UI has improved dramatically - I rarely have to change the automatically suggested categories and all the information I want is easily found. Can I say the same about Shittystick? Nope. Interface has not improved, sales have gone down.

Relatively speaking, DT is a small agency: that's why it doesn't sell a lot. I uploaded 300 images tonight which were on SS and not DT. If everyone disabling their portfolio does the same, then it's not such a small agency and the results could be good for all.

Almost every company was a small business once. There is no reason they have to stay that way.

I used to work exclusively with Dreamstime - I'm contributor there since 2014. And I kept my exclusivity until they stopped paying upload bonuses to contributors who have more than 10.000 images on their portfolio. I also stopped submitting my work there since then but perhaps its a good time since they are more supportive during all this crazy times.

I also did not get any 10% increase on my sales. Looking at the forum it seems to be random. Some people get them, some don't, some get them on some sales, but not on others. A mod there told people to write them with the image ID if they did not get the extra 10%, so maybe some of you want to do that. It's does not seem worth the hassle for 3cent.

I'll wait a little, maybe it's a delay in their reporting system. At Dreamstime it happens a lot the time my balance increases and the time a sale show in the list is very different (but actually this delay is never 4 days long, usually about 1 day)

Just saw this on Dreamstime's forum:

Quote
Clarification: The announcement we posted says that all purchases made beginning June 1st will award the increased royalties. This means that all plans purchased as of this date will give you +10%. Keep in mind that plans purchased prior to this date may still be active and used by our buyers and for those downloads, you will receive regular royalties. This is why for some sales you have increased royalties, for others not yet. In time, as the current plans get used up, all your sales will show the updated royalties. I hope this clarifies.

So, that explains why none of my sales there this month have earned me any additional 10%.

So this promised increase not only came at a very convinient time, but they also left out a quite important detail from their mail announcement.  ::)

Och, yer jaws trippin you! Youve been negative about everything all week. Lighten up, its the weekend and this is a rare bit of genuine good news. I dont claim to know how Dreamstime code their application but, from the way I would do it, applying a commission change to an existing plan would be a nightmare. They are already paying considerably more than DT, albeit with low volume sales, so look forward to the bonus as you move images across to them. If you already have all your SS images there, what difference does it make to you?

I just tried to process on DT some images that I uploaded about 2 weeks ago but never formally submitted.

No go! I got this message in red at the top of the page:

Error: Due to the massive uploads, you can only make 7000 submissions per week. Please continue the upload process after 7 days have passed since your first submission.

Well, golly gumdrops, I haven't come anywhere close to 7,000 submissions this week. And just a few days ago they accepted a couple dozen that I processed in just a few hours.

DT must be seeing a MASSIVE SURGE in uploads right now.

Just to follow up I went back tonight and without incident got all my newest images submitted and approved in record time.

Seems like the bottleneck has ended.

I also had a sale today for $4.12, which is an odd royalty that I don't recall ever seeing there before. That's on top of three ELs over the last month, which also never happened to me there before.

Something seems to be happening at DT, and it looks good from where I sit.

I have been with Dreamstinme since the early 2006, I have had images withy other sites that promised the world and delivered nothing.
My images from that time are still being licensed, they pay on time and if the images you have with them are exclusive you get a better %.

how is the uploading process there compared to other agencies? Can you caption and keyword the images in the actual file in photo mechanic and then just simply submit them?

To be the 10,047th person to say this, (but the first in this post.... ) now if they would only lower payouts.  There was a time when I could get a couple $100 payouts a month, but now it's about twice a year.

I had a of the yummy sub sales today, three at $2.20 and one at $2.     That little increase of 60 cents on top of the old price sure beats 6 sub sales at SS.

Some recent sales of mine appear to have the increased royalty too: 2,20$ instead of 2$ and 0,38$ instead of 0,35$. It's a little "step", but a step in the right direction at least.

About the monthly income, with ~900 vectors I earn around 20-40$/month, so it's not much, but I choose to contribute as I like their system (highest RPD across all agencies), feel respected and treated fairly.

Now if only they make more sales, they would be the perfect agency. How can you not love this agency though. What a lovely gesture...

While I did + this, I'm looking at the announcement as 1) offering me a much bigger share of nothing, and a 2) nice move on DTs part to capitalize on the SS dissatisfaction and bring back or invite people.

Whether it really makes more for any of use, it's still welcome.

Myself, if something WAS rejected by SS and Adobe, I'd then upload as exclusive to DT. At this point that's going to be, if something is rejected by Adobe?  ;)

During the whole year I read only quite negative comments about Dreamstimes...
And suddenly it would have become the best microscock agency in the world...

Yeah, odd how that swinging door works in Microstock.  ;D Until the SS announcement, people were putting down Adobe as not being the answer, and called out for saying Adobe had the best future. That swung too?

DT makes me very little. I hardly upload anything. See above, what I do is images I think have potential and are worth the extra time to put on DT as Exclusive. A couple of them have worked, I'm happy. I don't intend to say that the new plan will add more income and volume is pretty low.

I won't say anything negative about any increase?  8)

If DT wanted to do something useful, they would lower their minimum payout.  With all the competition, $100 is too high.

WAAYYYY too high
They should switch it to $25 with the volume of sales they produce

I FTP'd some uploads up this afternoon and was very pleasantly surprised by

1. How much simpler they've made the submission process and

2. How quickly the images were approved (I'm guessing they had hoped this might be the result of their royalty increase)....

i had the same reaction - i had stopped uploading til someone here mentioned the process had been streamlined, so i've returned, too

I'm getting more and more sales on DT than ever the last couple of days (according to StockSubmitter), but for some reason my DT statistics page doesn't update...Anyone else who has the same problem?

Edit: never mind, it's a server delay according to the DT forum admin.

That's good news for me too as I have over 200 files there right now.  :)

Lots of sales in last 4-5 days, like in the old days. Still far from covering SS lose, but atm it looks promising.

I've noticed that increase in sales on DT, too. (And actually, the same is happening with my portfolio on AS.)

Fingers crossed for the change to continue and be permanent!

I am seeing an increase (it's still slow though). It's hard to tell if that's because I uploaded a huge backlog over the last weekend in May or if it's the absence of the files on Shutterstock.

does anyone have descent monthly income from DT e.g. minimum 300$ or more, just asking

No, but Dreamstime is so good they give us 10% more on the 10 - 20 images we sell every month
