Hi, i have a newbie question to ask. =}
In FAQ it say...

"Vector files should be saved in raster format, JPG at a high resolution, saved at highest quality and submitted in this format. You can also upload an additional format (AI, CDR or EPS extensions accepted) after the JPG upload using the FTP upload/Additional sub-folder or as soon as the JPG is accepted. In some cases (e.g. layouts of web templates) it is advisable to upload the additional format before the review of the JPG file in order to increase chances of approval."

I'm non English speaker and i don't quite understand that. Does it mean all i need to do is just upload a JPG to show them, if it gets approved then only i upload my EPS file?

I am confused as most of the site requires JPG and EPS at the same time...

yep, that's right, you upload the vector file once the jpegs  have been approved.

1. upload the high res jpg (via FTP), which has the description and keywords embedded.  Choose the categories.

2.  After pressing the button at the bottom of the page, a new screen pops and there is an area that you can click to upload an additional format.  I think you can also upload the eps from the edit screen while the jpg is in the pending que.  I have always uploaded the eps at the time of upload.

Also...after you edit and submit your jpg. Go to Pending Files in your Management area. You can then edit keywords and upload your eps. file. You have until the image is under review to make changes.

Hi, :)
I agree with Chromaco and Ibarn.
No point in waiting for the JPEG to be accepted. This is what I do :
- upload your JPEG version
- go back to 'Pending Files' - Management area
- click on your image, a new field is now available - 'Upload additional file format'
- browse for your vector file
- submit

Dreamstime does it a little bit different than the other sites, but it's not that bad and soon you'll get used with their system.
JPEGS always get reviewed first.

Good luck and welcome to Dreamstime :)

Lol, I'm about to save you all a lot of hassle!!
In your ftp client just make sure you place the jpegs first in the queue to the main directory then in the same queue you can drop the eps files in the "additional" folder and they will automatically pair.
Check your upload history to make sure the eps gets to the right place, as long as it has the same name as the jpeg it should say "Processed as additional file for image xxxxxxxx"

Microbius, that actually will save me a lot of time. I thought I needed to rename the eps with the image number of the jpg to upload it to the FTP. You just saved me a ton of hassle. Thanks

Don't forget that you are not allowed to add word "vector" to the keywords before eps file is approved. Your file would be rejected.

Should I remove vector from the keywords of a pending jpg and vector upload?

They don't want vector in the keywords even if the vector is also pending? So I just have to go in after approval and add the vector keyword in? Thanks.

I believe, that keyword "vector" is ok, if .eps file is uploaded together with .jpg (or immediately after .jpg upload).
I asked about this on their message board few years ago. So I use same metadata as on other sites (with keywords "vector, vectors").

Microbius - Thank You very much, I also thought, that I need image number to upload eps file to ftp server.
I will surely try to upload all files through ftp server.

Updated answer to a 2012 question. I was trying to upload a matching JPG and EPS today and was running in circles. I contacted DT support and here's the current answer. I will look at that ftp thing that was posted before about the additional folder. Could be nice also.

Here's what DT says:

As long as the jpg file and the vector have the same name, you upload the jpg file first, and then the vector file.

They are automatically joined once both uploads are complete. You add titles, descriptions, keywords and submit. The submission stays together; the jpg and vector files may be reviewed by separate editors (the vector review takes longer); sometimes the jpg file will be approved first, with the vector file pending until its review is completed. Once the vector review is completed and approved, it will also show on the image page. Both reviewers see all the data associated with the submission.

Like Alamy, I wonder if Dreamstime will still be around in the near future. Call me a pessimist but I kind of doubt it.

But to hear a different tune, why is uploading to Dreamstime still a good idea Pete?

Because when I get to $100 I can close the account. That's really my answer.

I have some vectors, just hanging around on the computer and less and less places that I'm uploading them. As strange as things are, IS and DT are the two places where I might get them working for me.

I don't know about DTs future, but I think the place is hanging on, has a good structure, and doing well enough to stay in business. I don't mean to say that's any good for me, just that I don't foresee the sudden closing like some other small ones have done. Other people seem to do just fine there.

First you upload your jpg-file. Afterwards you will see this window. I've highlighted the place "Additional format" where you can select and upload your vector file. Of course it must have the same name as the jpg-file, for example

"myfile.jpg" & "myfile.eps"

Yes I tried that after reading the forum and the old posts. Nothing seemed to work, I kept getting and error. That's why I asked DT support. Seems my images were already uploaded and I had to do nothing. But yes, they must have the identical name.

The entire following is a quote from Support, not my additional explanation.

As long as the jpg file and the vector have the same name, you upload the jpg file first, and then the vector file.

They are automatically joined once both uploads are complete. You add titles, descriptions, keywords and submit. I just uploaded both, JPG first, nothing else.
