About two or three hours ago I saw that one of my images at DT was downloaded (W-EL, maximum, 50 credits, image earning: 12.48 $ for me). Nice to see (because of Christmas  :)).

But now the image earning has changed to only 6.00 $ for me. Not nice to see  >:(.

Is that because the program looks up again later whether it could cut a little (because of Christmas  :-\)?

Has anyone else had this problem too?

Yes. This exact price changed happened to me as well this morning. $12 to $6 for a 50 credit EL. First EL in a long time. Still don't know why the change.

Had anyone else this problem in the past? Me not.
Has anyone had ELs without cut today?

"Clarification:Some of the extended license downloads many of you are getting these days may be part of the partnership we announced earlier this year here:http://www.dreamstime.com/forumm_39797_pg1. So this would explain why you had so many W-ELs in such a short time.

Some of you may notice a change in your earnings balance, due to a coordination glitch on our end. As of this hour, it should be fixed and royalties are correct now. As you know, when it comes to such high volume downloads, we also offer higher discounts. Based on the credit system, this may translate into different royalties than the regular ones you receive for normal site sales. We apologize for the inconvenience and for the glitch.
We recommend you take into account the total revenue/image as many of you also had RF license downloads for the same images when the first batch download was made earlier this year and although the RF is included in the EL, no refund has been provided for those downloads.

The good news is that we're expecting several similar batches in the upcoming months so more EL downloads to come."

"The update reflects the high volume discount awarded. Our technical team added standard royalties using a special procedure since such buyers are not downloading in a regular manner due to the high volume.
It is entirely my fault for not coordinating the report more carefully and that perhaps, we rushed to report these downloads awarding rather standard royalties than discounted. I apologize for any disappointment this caused.
Hopefully this comes as an early Christmas present. As said, there are more to come, so don't feel too bad."

"RF license covers the usage only the first phase of the deal. They only need RF, so that's what they're buying. The sales are guaranteed, Google pays in advance.

In the second phase of the deal, Google's clients will be able to choose from a variety of templates, and this asks for an extended license, because they will have more options.

As it always happens within a big deal like this, we offered Google a lower price than our regular packages, however this won't reflect in the royalties awarded to our contributors, because Dreamstime fully supports the discount."

The question is: Why we don't get standard royalties if DT "fully supports the discount"???

In that link you can read, that the problem was between someone's ears. Nevertheless: Merry Christmas  :D.

Wonder why it is always a glitch that magically cuts the contributors earnings in half, instead of doubling them. Sounds like someone at the top of DT overspent on their Christmas budget and needed some extra $$$.

I had four of those this morning for $10.50 each, then this afternoon they went down to $6 each - very annoying.  Of course that's better than nothing, but seems very low for an EL and not the very high-value DLs we were led to believe would result from the Google deal.  Hopefully more will follow and at higher payouts to contributors than these - I think $6 for an El is the lowest I've ever had from any agency.  The only bright side is that they are level 2 images that haven't received a ton of DLs previously - I would be very annoyed if it was for high sellers.

prostock - thanks for posting the link to the DT thread.  I looked there this morning but couldn't find anything.

OK, so these are the Google deal downloads.

What I don't get... why are they still held for a week "under investigation" so we can't request our earnings?

The default at DT is to be suspicious of ELs, to make sure there's no fraud.

But why the suspicion for the Google deal downloads?  Would be nice to access that money now for the holidays and not have to wait for DT to "investigate" these.

Same situation with me: 50 credits, 10.5 usd, and few hours later 6 usd.
Not cool at all!

My guess would be that it is just the way their system works. A sale over a certain price automatically kicks in a waiting period. Software is software. They probably didn't think about changing it for the google deal or else it was too much of a bother to alter the code.

Almost at the same time when I noticed the sale of W-EL at DT (50 credits, 12:48 for me), I received an email from FT about the sale of EL, 50 credits, 12.50 for me. DT cut my share to 6.00 $, FT didn't.

DT tells it's a big deal and that's because they cut the royalties. But where is the big deal for the contributors? I can't see that. The images at DT could have been sold at FT with higher royalties for the contributors. So the partner of DT could sell the images at the same price - and there is the big deal for the partner of DT: he has a share about 50% of the regular price. And the contributor? He makes himself competition and lowers his share, when he is contributor at DT and other agencies too. I will not accept.

There are several ways to prevent the cut at DT:
1. Exclude my portfolio from all third-party partnerships (Button "Alliances" at the contributors area at DT)
2. And/or no more uploads to DT
3. And/or exit from DT.

What do you think about?

DT explained the "big deal" in their blog (http://www.dreamstime.com/forumm_39797_pg1) on 01/19/2015, 06:19:30. In the opening post you find the statement: "Overall the royalties will average approximately 50%." So we could have seen, that we would get a cut.

DT announced: "Exciting news: Dreamstime, an official stock photography provider for Google display ads". Google describes Google Adwords at https://support.google.com/adwords#topic=3119071 and display ads at https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/1722134?hl=en.

I think Adwords is or could become a "big deal" for Google, perhaps for DT, too. But is it a big deal for the DT contributors? For me not, because only one of my images was sold in that "big deal" in the whole year 2015, my share 6.00 $. Maybe others of you had more downloads in that "big deal"? How many images and $$, how many in average of a month and what is the relationship to the quantity of the other downloads of the year?
