upload limit is based on aproval rate.

for me:

Quote
Your approval ratio is 78.3%. This means that you can upload 50 images per day. Use the following form to upload your image.

you can have up to 200 per day limit if you have 95% aproval rate.

Where is this displayed? I got this message "Due to the massive uploads, you can only make 5 submissions per user daily. Please continue the upload process after 24 hours have passed since your first submission."

800 pictures in queue with 5 per day submission limit makes 6 months to clean up this backlog :-)

if you bring your approval rating up to over 60% you will be able to submit 50 images/day.  Be very selective in what you send them and perhaps you can get the rate up.

BTW, Achilles announced this afternoon that it has been dropped to 50 max (for highest approval rates) so the editors can catch up.

Microstock is constantly a learning experience.  I use almost no noise reduction, but I also shoot almost solely at ISO 100.  I am trying to get better with photoshop, I have found that is another learning experience that seems to never end.  There are some great tutorials on the net though.  Wow...800 photos in queue, not sure if Dreamstime has a way you can remove them and then prioritize and upload your favorites to start out with.

Amen brother :)

Not sure why anyone would be selling an unfinished product to customers anyway.  Learn your craft before you expect people to pay you for it.

"unfinished" seems like a relative term when speaking about photography.  I think each photographer decides what is considered finished for their own product.  Not sure about others, but the day I quit learning will be the day I quit photography.

Perhaps that's true in an artistic sense, and would make perfect sense on a photosharing site.  But this is a forum about the business of microstock photography, and microstock sites are extremely demanding of technical excellence.

I agree, we are all learning (hopefully) in this business, but a certain basic knowledge of the technical aspects of photography is necessary as a foundation to build on.

Learning the skills to produce technically good images for sale as stock should be treated as a prerequisite, not an afterthought IMO.

How in the world did you manage to get 800 images backed up in the queue?  Do you just shoot in .jpg and upload your images without even looking at them in PS?  That's a recipe for disaster.  If this is common practice for many contributors, no wonder the queue is so far behind.  And no wonder reviewers get so cranky!

Absolutely!

I really love the thread title too, which suggests DT is going down because one contributor with a poor acceptance ratio has his uploads per day limited.  Yeah, the #3 or so microstock company in the world is crashing down, and it begins with this.   ::)

Seems like the norm, with more and more messages like this every day. Someone signs up as a new user just to write a nasty note about LO.

I read over and over how the market has dropped, just because someone has a bad month, or bad week. In some cases a bad day!  ;D

OK so the sky is falling, now can we get on with some other topic?

LOL!  Good points as usual Dan & Racephoto.

Since the sky is falling I guess I better invest in a strong umbrella! :D

It that the reason you have been limited to 5 a day, uploading everything rather than selective uploading?

I am a noob but was given this advice when I first used the forums!

You should not need noise reduction software if you are using the correct ISO and fast glass.

Photoshop should be used only slightly, like for tweeking levels, you should get it almost right in the camera.

So what that said to me was learn to use the camera rather than trying to fix it with post process.

For me it says;"Your approval ratio is 70.8%. This means that you can upload 50 images per day."

When I was at 82% it was 100 a day.  I can live with 50 no problem.

By the way, It's never the quantity.. It is the QUALITY..

I have about 130 images in 7 websites and make about $1500 per month at the current size of my port.. so if I go with your calculations when I have 1300 images I will make $15.000 per month.. Right? NO :) NO :)

not necessarily.. I might make more if I increase the quality in my future submissions, or if I decrease the quality I might stay where I am now..
