What is the cheapest video equipment that you can make use of for stock video??

like for example for stock pictures I would say perhaps a Canon 350xti... or any sort of DSLR and a 50mm 1.8 lens.

Any reasonable home camcorder from Sony or Canon - Hi Def would future proof your investment.

Things to look for at this end of the market are an external mic port and a firewire port.

For time lapse stuff your DSLR would do fine

Except you'd quickly come up against the fact that the shutter will break after X amount of shots.

My friend is using his old camera for that. One good selling time lapse video payed for the repair.

True, although when you can pick up a second hand P&S for under 100 - some of which will take a time lapse set of shots without needing a laptop or remote timer - doesn't seem much point!  Most P&S's will produce good enough quality for HD apparently.

We have a Panasonic home camcorder we got for $150 or $170.  We have sold on SS and continue to upload new vids.  It's about the cheapest you can get - so anything that's a "real camcorder" and not a camera with a video feature, you should be ok.

I have Adobe Premiere Pro.  It's fast, VERY lightweight and does everything I need.
