I made an early New Year's Resolution to begin supporting agencies which better support their contributors.  I love the flexibility of the pricing at FP, and of course the average commission cannot be beat.

My expectations are very low.  But I want to support FeaturePics, because they are willing to support all of us.

I will now be making all of my initial submissions to FP, 123RF, DT, and StockXpert.  All other sites will come later.  In the future, I may create specific content for these sites too, provided they are showing growth.

Wow Dan good to read wish you success and joy.
I'm with you in aspects of FP and StockXpert (i did and do upload first to them) but with the exception of DT and 123RF as i personally don't like the subscription model.
Hopefully we will see a more photographer-friendly year 2008  :D :)

Thanks grp_photo.  I agree regarding the subscription sites.  But I also acknowledge that it wouldn't take too much of a commission raise to make it far more palatable to all of us.

Yes, it's better to support the site that give us 70% than another slow earner that pay only 30%.
I think it's a good idea to boycott all the sites that pay us peanuts. ON STRIKE  ;D

Happy to see that you're coming to FP. If we all work together, we can make that place rock!

I got into microstock a little over a year ago but never considered FP seriously until recently.  Now after hearing how more and more of the other sites are ignoring and otherwise being rude to contributors, FP is looking better and better all the time.  One thing I've consistently heard about them is that they are very responsive to the needs of contributors.  I've checked out their pricing, and the flexibility of it seems to be a very welcome change.  Now if the sales potential can begin to pick up, this may be one of the great stock sites of the future.  Let's hope they don't get bought out by one of the big boys!!

FP has always had a more "personal" feel. Sales are slow but semi-consistant. Uploading is a breeze and acceptance levels are the best of any site. Cue-times average 2-3 days and they pay fast.

I do love me some FP

I have started uploading there as well.

I'm new to the setting your own price model ... Does anyone have any advice for these? The same photos are posted elsewhere, but I can see where it might be worth it to post to FP first and delay on the other on the chance that I get a sale there before they hit the other sites ...

Any advice regarding a pricing strategy when I'm currently active on around 6 sites or so ...

I just Uploaded 500mb of pictures in FP, and I believe FP is the best for photographer, ilustrator and buyer in the future.

If FP success in their bussiness, other website will follow FP system.
Gooo... FP

I have set my prices at 5, 7 and 10 dollars. No point in selling them cheaper, since individual downloads at other sites will usually amount to at least 5 dollars (full size) anyway. As a designer, I don't care if an image costs 2 or 3 or 5 dollars.

$7 apiece here

In my microstock collection at FP, I set prices so the smaller size costs 99c.  This makes a 7MPix image cost US$3.80.

As they were the first to accept my pictures (today : I'm a newcomer), I am now contributing. And I have so much difficulties loading files to any agency (really small bandwidth here) that I think I'll stay with them for now. I am currently up-loading some more files...
