Title: Bizarre support reply
Post by: madelaide on January 27, 2011, 19:06
I sent a note to FT through their "contact us" page, regarding a watermarked image of mine I found today.

They reply saying I should contact their copyright department, and gave me their email. Why don't support forward the message to the appropriate department?   ???

Because it apparently requires too many clicks to forward an email ;)  I have to check on one I found on a site using my image and do the same.  That is if it's still there.  Yep still there...tossers.

Perhaps if you send it you'll get a support ticket number for use in following up whereas if they forward it you'll be unaware of what's going on and not be able to follow up directly?  I'm guessing copyright issues are something they want us to handle directly with the correct department rather than the generic "contact us" department.  If that's the case they should include that info on their contact page.

Yeah I went there last night to look for the copyright email link and there wasn't one.  I got the same reply too a few moments ago.  You'd think they'd make that available on the drop down box.  Unless they're worried about people abusing the system?  Dunno.

Yes, if the contact page has an option for "copyright issues", the site mail would be sent directly to the right department.

I have sometimes sent agencies emails, only to find out that they replied with different addresses. If I hadn't checked my spam, I wouldn't have known they had replied. If you send it to the email they want you to send it to, their message won't go into spam when they reply.
