I thought this had been fixed but all my new uploads were defaulted for the free section again today and I had to change it. Are they ever going to fix this?

The only time I've had a problem with this is when I've cleared my browser cache. Otherwise, the system remembers your last used settings (using Firefox, Safari)

I have been having this problem on and off for the past few months. I check very carefully that the "NO" is set for the free section on each and every one of my uploads and yet I still get the email that says this image or that image is declined for the free section.

I tried contacting support several times and they still insist it's is a setting I am checking, but I swear it is not my fault.

Every time it happens I just search for the file by the image number and delete the file. The support guys just tell me how much it benefits me to just give away my images for free, um no thank you.

Just discovered today that ~40 of my recent images were all in the free section. Not really looking forward to reuploading and waiting for approval. They should seriously fix this issue!

Only 3 images per week are offered for free, not every image that is accepted to free section. So, there is only small chance that you are giving our work "for free".

About 200 of my images are in the free section!

I don't want to give my images for free!!!
That's not going to happen if the default setting was NO!
Now I will delete those images and will never upload them to FT!

How can you check if it is in the free section? When I first started to upload I realised I had left it ticked for free so I emailed them and they removed it but I can't see how to check any of my files.

I'm just going to start marking all my files as exclusive and get more money. If anyone ever notices they are not exclusive, I'll just say "Oops, it must have been your default setting."

Time ago they were signed with a blue dot.
Then when they made the new site style they removed it…

Looking at my recent uploaded files, free section is off by default.. Video only here, maybe it's different for photo

This is Adobe doing it now. Should we all ask for our free version of photoshop to edit the free images

The fact that they can't fix this is worrying, how hard can it be? Every contributor will have to keep checking this, such a waste of our time.

Am I right in understanding that

the only files that go to the free section are ones that are ...er.....declined?

If so, is there any way to see which ones HAVE been 'declined' and/or gone to the free section?

The default changes quite often to me, even within the middle of individual uploading. Once they might fix it for you. Then you have to delete the image and reload before they review it to keep it from going to free if declined. Wastes a lot of time and sometimes I have not bothered to reupload.

The problem has been going on ever since I joined. I have given hope of it ever being fixed.

Out of the entire collection of images that are approved for the free section only 3 images are made available to download each week (that's 3 total, not 3 of any one contributors).

I'm not sure how people know they have 40 or 200 in the free section. Would love to hear from fairplay or substancep how they determined they had that many marked for free. I don't even see a section on my fotolia dashboard showing images that were rejected. It would be nice to have that though, most other sites do.

I do not know how many are actually being downloaded for free. I was just talking about the "free section" checkbox. Even if those images are not selected for the free section, there is always the possibility. This shouldn't even be happening in the first place either, since I specifically chose to not offer my images to the free section in the first place, but somehow, there was a "mistake" that ticked those checkboxes by default regardless.

I wasn't referring to how many you have had downloaded for free. You said, "About 200 of my images are in the free section!" I just wondered how you knew that, when there really isn't much of a free section to go see, especially to see 200 images. I guess you went through your images that are uploaded, clicked edit and checked to see if the box was marked.

I agree with you, it shouldn't be happening at all. I hope they fix that, what a pain to have to waste time checking.
