Title: Free for a year and Lifetime Nominations are open
Post by: Uncle Pete on May 19, 2026, 16:42
I selected all, then slid off most of them, 1 year option. But $10 for a lifetime/perpetual? I just don't know. That seems kind of low.

I did leave these on for Perpetual nomination.

;D $10 seems fair for this kind of Crapstock. Each of those actually has one download, lifetime. So assuming that's about how useful they are, the pay, if selected, would be ten years earnings, at the best and maybe 20 years.

I'll take $10 for a photo of a sliced tomato!

I got 648 photos nominated, but dont know yet how I will approach it this year, perhaps I will give them almost all what is easy for AI to replicate, and what havent sold more than, lets say 10 times...
The Trend is that they are getting stricter each year, so I dont have high hopes for how many of my nominated photos will be eventually selected....

They take less per portfolio each year - maybe more in total though. Oh, and of course they pay less too. I'll nominate the images with little to no sales that would be trivial to replicate - as Pete would say, the crapstock. They might take a few, I might get a few bucks.

I advice everyone who's considering to opt-in to go through the selection. I have eligible assets that are doing well elsewhere, but with only a few downloads on Adobe.

I know many customers don't shop around, and most of my images are not that unique, but nevertheless, I'm not willing to compromise sales elsewhere by making those assets available for free on Adobe.

If you select everything and add it to the free collection, can you still remove images from the selection afterwards?

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that you can change nominations until the date they select what is actually accepted into the collections, then it is done.

yes, if you select everything they will flip the toggle to yes on every asset.  then you can go and switch it back to no if you want.

I have 4 free pictures without designed them last year. Adobe is even worst every day.

Contributor support is useless. Let's see this year if they are still free after contact them.

I nominate all since lots of the shots I can relatively easily re-do at same location with similar lighting.

Nothing nominated for Perpetual Collection and only selective for annual collection, only images taken with camera, as they seem they selected lots of images taken with my drone.

I think in general it is a bad idea to take part in this after doing so the last 4 years. Although Adobe greatly reduced their payments to photographers especially in the UK when they scrapped the $ to £ exchange rate, they still pay more than more agencies. You can't second guess which photos to give away, highest earning photos can be downloaded 100's of times less than low earners.

Huge sale drop since this "event " started......almost looks like they are buying those assets with our money.

It is an extended holiday weekend. Monday is Memorial Day in the US and Europe has a public holiday as well.

Also the start of the school holiday seasons in many countries.

Thank for your insights. So, can we deduce from you comment that you will not be participating this year?

10 days holiday....start of the school.....can you please defend them with something that is more realistic than this ?  :)

I am not defending anything.

Just pointing out that customers are not robots who buy a daily fixed quota.

Seasonal variations and holidays exist.

You can balance quite well if you add a lot of content specific for the season or the holiday.

Or go on believing agencies are all evil, out to get us and stock is "this time" truly really totally dead and uploading is useless...

My sales are better since I don't have free ones.

4 USD is a joke.

Do you mean This Event now or ever since they started offering pay for a year of free downloads? Adobe says, the free is attracting new buyers and new customers. If you mean "Now" right now, nothing has changed yet. We won't know for weeks which images are accepted and paid for. Nominated is just that. Then they do Illustrations and later a round of video.

I wonder how many times my free images are downloaded? But if they have one DL in the last couple of years, I'm making more than the 99¢, and I'm happy. The accepted and paid for mine varies, but it has been in the low teens. So, $40 each round is welcome.

My photo portfolio is very young with most photos uploaded the last 18 months.

I've read that it takes a while for photos to start selling well. Would you say that I'd better give my portfolio more time to see which photos perform best and postpone participation in the free library to another year?

They only take very few images, so it might be worth nominating some to see if anything will be accepted.

Personally I see the free images as little advertisers for my port. Those downloading my files, might want to look at more from the genre or series.

With a few files I am certain the reason they sell well is because a weaker image from the series is in the free collection.

But nobody has to rent out files for a year-
